Is this 440 block worth going any further with?

Why are you boring to the max on this build ? What happens if you need to fix something and bore again ??? I would only bore to the minimum required ... AFTER a sonic check ...

470 Stroker - Anyone built one?

It's not that the crank, rods or pistons are junk , the pistons are probably the nicest part of the kit , it's the finish machining that is suspect being the stuff is finished in China and you get what you pay for . Call this shop , Performance Only Racing Engines and Talk to Dan , he is near...

470 Stroker - Anyone built one?

This is incorrect , you can build a 511" low deck using the same pistons as you would to build the 451 and the 470 ... 1.320 ... the difference is the rod used to go with the stroke . PRO470 , make sure you have the crank checked, unfortunately you'll be stuck with it since it will be cheaper...

    451 stroker

I see they are a step head piston with a .095 dome , you need to pay close attention to the depths of the open part of the chamber across the entire head , they will not be the same chamber to chamber . with good uniform quench you could safely run 9.5 compression on 89 octane , maybe even 87 ...

400 low buck dont give a

Was this engine rebuilt in the past, is it overbore or has it been decked a ton , someone swap in a low compression 440 piston because there was a factory 400 built with a piston that high in the hole ...

    Cam Bearing install

This is the correct opinion , there is more to installing cam bearings than just banging them into place .

    383 440 swap. Same flywheel?

Yes you can use the register mounted pilot bushing/bearing , be prepared to trim the input shaft of the trans as the hole is probably not deep enough . you are going to need to have the flywheel balanced for external balance .

    big block questions

For every .010 cut off the deck surface you cut .0123 off the intake surface ,also be warned that the valley end rails would need to be cut that same .0123 , most don't do it and just force the valley gasket into place.

What Size Spare Tire did a 69 Dart GTS 383 have?

Spare tire will be the same as what is on the other 4 wheels so if it would have fit on the narrower wheel they would have just used that wheel. Not sure if the bolt is longer , or if it needed to be , the one in the car fits fine with the F70 jambed in the well .

    Big block 383 build!

What was done to the heads , that's not a big cam but some think 550HP is easy to get from a stock stroke 383 , your combo shows it's not that easy . Unless that 452 is rear wheel HP

What Size Spare Tire did a 69 Dart GTS 383 have?

14x5.5 steel wheel , tire size I think was a D70x14 redline , goodyear me thinks , tire may have been as big as an E70 , but no bigger . I run F70's on my dart and they hit the frame before hitting the steering stops and the tire doesn't fit the sparewell INFLATED ...
