I had a similar issue. There are two different rubbers that are being sold. The cheaper one doesn’t fit. I purchased the better one through Detroit muscle (they sell both). That solved the issue. No more binding in the lower vent area

I used a windshield shop that was recommended to me for the first windshield. I figured it was a gasket issue as the first gasket looked worse. I thought I’d try a new gasket. I may order a new windshield. Any recommendations on who to order from. Classic industries is who I was thinking.

That looks a bit tight but there is some flex to that. Try pulling on it towards the front while someone tightens the bolts. If you get an extra 1/8” or so it may be enough to not draw attention to it
The gaps on most a bodies were usually pretty good for 70’s standards. Way better than most E bodies. During quarter replacement, all body parts need to be fit multiple times before times before final welding. Most people don’t do this as it takes a ton of time. I am guilty of it as well...
