I looked through your thread and your project is progressing nicely. I did not see where anyone answered one of your original questions and that was about a fitting in the fender. That fitting is for air shocks that some one must of had on the vehicle at one time...Bill

To get the spindle off the stud you need a pickle fork. And the ball joint is threaded in and requires a special socket to remove it. Most of the ones I have seen and used are 3/4" drive but there are 1/2" drive ones too. They are not real common any more but NAPA does list them and can order...
