I’m fixing some rust on my 1972 Dodge Dart and cannot figure out what this metal piece is called. It’s the bottom of the metal panel where the rear Valance/bumper bolt up to. Any ideas?
I think they are 255/60s can’t remember, everyone said they would rub but I still have almost a inch till the fender and half inch till I hit the leaf springs. But they are almost 9 inches wide. Stripped her down for black paint but now I’m thinking silver looks good hahah so I can’t decide ....
Thanks appreciate it I got another view of the car too I’ll post for ya! But Tomorrow I’ll check out the driveshaft to see if it has some play also! I know I changed the pinion seal in the differential and put new fluid in it ( the diff fluid was like Elmer’s glue from sitting) but no harm done...
Yep that’s what I was assuming. I know I might have a little too much transmission fluid in it too but that wouldn’t hurt it would it? If it needs overhauled then I don’t mind spending the cash on it.
So I was looking for a late 60s mustang on Craigslist one day and stumbled across this old Dart. It had pretty much no interior at all and the front floor pans where cut out. It had some rust ofcourse since it has been sitting since the early 90’s. I ended up talking the kid down to 700 bucks...
So when I start my 72 Dart with a slant 6 and 904 transmission and I put it into reverse it makes a clunk noise and the car jerks real quick. Also it seems like reverse doesn’t work very well until the car is warmed up fully. The car sat for 24 years but I changed the transmission filter and...
The rust is mainly on the passenger side wheel well where it meets the firewall on the top, also the holes that the front panels bolt to have seen better days so they are due for some work. Good thing I posted this before I went cutting away lol
currently I’m stripping my 72 Dart down to bare metal and thinking about cutting out the front wheel wells inside the engine bay, they have rust on them also. Anyone have pictures or ever did this? Do I have to worry about rocks? And I’d imagine it keeps engine temps down too?
I will definitely brace it and some kid younger then me pulled it from a barn and cut where your feet go pretty much on both sides of the front so now the windows have small imperfections
