Thanks appreciate it I got another view of the car too I’ll post for ya! But Tomorrow I’ll check out the driveshaft to see if it has some play also! Reverse issues on 904 transmission

Yep that’s what I was assuming. I know I might have a little too much transmission fluid in it too but that wouldn’t hurt it would it? If it needs overhauled then I don’t mind spending the cash on it.

    72 Dart resurrection

So I was looking for a late 60s mustang on Craigslist one day and stumbled across this old Dart. It had pretty much no interior at all and the front floor pans where cut out. It had some rust ofcourse since it has been sitting since the early 90’s. I ended up talking the kid down to 700 bucks...

    Reverse issues on 904 transmission

So when I start my 72 Dart with a slant 6 and 904 transmission and I put it into reverse it makes a clunk noise and the car jerks real quick. Also it seems like reverse doesn’t work very well until the car is warmed up fully. The car sat for 24 years but I changed the transmission filter and...

Cut out front wheel wells or no?

Yeah I’m sure when I’m in my late 30s or 40s it’ll get a full overhaul. But she’s garage kept now so she should last a couple hundred years

Cut out front wheel wells or no?

The rust is mainly on the passenger side wheel well where it meets the firewall on the top, also the holes that the front panels bolt to have seen better days so they are due for some work. Good thing I posted this before I went cutting away lol

Cut out front wheel wells or no?

currently I’m stripping my 72 Dart down to bare metal and thinking about cutting out the front wheel wells inside the engine bay, they have rust on them also. Anyone have pictures or ever did this? Do I have to worry about rocks? And I’d imagine it keeps engine temps down too?

    Holly 1920 carburetor adjustments?

It runs fine, doesn't stall out and starts every time, I guess what I'm trying to get at is, are these old engines supposed to have black smoke come out of the exhaust when you rev them up when they are not fully warmed up?

    Holly 1920 carburetor adjustments?

When it gets too much fuel that's when black smoke comes out the exhaust right? It only does it if you rev it up literally right when you start the thing

    Holly 1920 carburetor adjustments?

It only smokes (black) a little when it's first started but when it's warmed up and I give it a good rev the exhaust smoke it barely noticeable. Sorry I'm 24 and not used to how these old cars are supposed to smell/act and the sounds they should and shouldn't make haha. Grew up in the wrong era...

    Holly 1920 carburetor adjustments?

I have a single barrel Holley 1920 carburetor, and everyone keeps saying 2 and a half turns out for the fuel/air mixture. Well I do that and it runs like crap, I have to do about 5 turns for it to run right. It never floods and starts every time so it's probably good?

Slant 6 pcv valve rattling issue

Slant 6 pcv valve rattling issue

The replacement one from Summit Racing I installed above still works great and is quiet with much better quality. The Fram pcv valves just feel very cheap and at any adjustment from the carb made a ticking noise still. Regardless of a oem one I feel like it's a great buy and works.

Hey guys I'm tearing out the front suspension this week off of my 72 dart, scraping grease and grime and replacing bushing and painting everything under there. What are the methods you guys use to get all this gunk away besides tons of brake cleaner and scraping?
