I had a similar issue on my 74 Dart. Cleaned and re tightened firewall to motor ground( braided wire in engine compartment). Removed the 3 bottom screws for instrument cluster as they provide a grounding surface to metal frame of dash. Cleaned surfaces to ensure a proper ground and re secured...
Gotcha, I did the same thing with the limiter but it didn't work. But in taking the cluster out of the dash I noticed that the three bottom screws holding the cluster into the dash framing were stripped out. Replaced screws with the next size bigger and cleaned all grounding surfaces, put old...

Thanks for the input guys. Car runs awesome with the booster disconnected. The booster I bought was a rebuilt one and faulty. Gonna switch and go with manual brakes. Just one less item in the engine bay. Thanks again.
Looking to get rid of power brakes and switch over to manual brakes in my 74 Dart. Anything special I need to know about the pedal assembly or will the one in the car work with a manual master cylinder with a 15/16ths bore? Thanks-Sean
Just replaced vacuum booster on my 74 Dart, old one was bad. My problem is, with the vacuum line hooked up to booster and no pressure on brake pedal the engine idle will increase about 200 rpm. Once pressure is applied, engine idle drops in rpm's. Would the correct push rod length have anything...
trying to find a new vinyl top for my 74 Dodge Dart swinger. Center deck measures 46.5" and I can only find tops that are for a 43" center deck. Could this be a top with no seams and where can I get one?- Sean
Thanks guys, it ended up being about a 10 minute fix. Had to grind a little bit of the bracket that's on the rod going from the Z bracket to the transmission. - Sean
Im Sean from Vacaville, CA and a newbie to this sight. Just recently bought a 74 Dodge Dart with a fresh 360/727 trans. Can not get the tranny to manually lock into first gear from the column as part of the shift linkage that attaches to tranny and drivers side frame hits bell housing and...
Thanks guys. I didn't think so. Still curious about the black side stripes that were called out since the car doesn't have them on there. It's been over 20 years since my last Mopar so I'm playing a lot of catch up.
Was a Swinger Demon even produced? Fender tag reports that my 74 Dodge Dart swinger was a Dart, Demon. (LH23) and the car came with body side stripes,black(V5X). Car is all original and all numbers match. Was wondering if this was possible since I thought the Demon name was for "Sport" style bodies.
