    Driveshaft question

Someone answered this elsewhere, but for forum searchers - a 318/904 Dart Swinger will need a 51.75” driveshaft if you’re switching to an 8 3/4 rear.

    Driveshaft question

Thanks! I’m not trying to cut anything. I ordered a new rear end and am ordering a new driveshaft, and I’m trying to figure out the correct one to order.

On a 1973 Dart Swinger Special with a 318/904 and an 8 3/4 rear, would the driveshaft length be 47.75”?

    Smallest Steering Box

It looks bolt in enough, except for pinning the Borgeson coupler to the column. I don’t have a drill press, and that’s a big issue.

    Smallest Steering Box

That helps a ton! It looks like this is it. Do I need anything else, or will this just bolt right in? I don’t know if I’ll need to still shorten the steering column as I already have power steering. Borgeson 800127: Power Steering Conversion Box 1962-82 Mopar | JEGS

    Smallest Steering Box

My concern is that the 800126 says it fits 62-72 cars. Will it still direct bolt in?

    Smallest Steering Box

I’ve got a 1973 Dart Swinger with the 318 and headers, so OEM steering box clearance is terrible. I am curious if the Borgeson or the Flaming River box makes for a better fit and install.

    Dana 60

That’s what I figured. I’m stuck on Dana but will probably just go straight to Moser.

I’ll definitely go with the lighter 70’s one then. I am mostly am just concerned about being able to drop off my current rear axle, put this on, throw on tires. I’m a super newbie to this, and I just want to replace my nearly blown 7.25 as easily as possible on a budget.

I’m mostly concerned about tube width and general fit.

I found someone selling 2 Dana 60 rear ends, one from a 70’s Ford F350 and the other from a 90’s Ram 2500-3500. Which should I pick up, and how easy will it be to convert from my 7.25 rear end?

    Cylinder Head Choice

Hi everyone! This has all been a ton of help! Mike and I had a long talk yesterday and I learned a lot. It’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed with all the options, but we’re going through exactly what fits for a more realistic build - back to front. This way I can get the right things in the...
