Welp I hooked up my pressure gauge and I’m pushing 8lbs just from the starter. Not even running. So sounds like it’s regulator time.

That’s an interesting anecdote. I have an electric pump already so maybe I’ll just shell out and buy a pressure regulator and not worry about it again.

Wrong. Tried to drive it to get some oil for the daily and it did it again. The floats are definitely boned. Ordered a NOS set on eBay.

Thanks for this. I may actually do that at some point. It turned out that there was a brass piece inside that had fallen out of its slot during my last endeavor into the carb. I took it all apart and put that piece back in and now it’s fine

We decided to install the new pump with a mechanical gauge. Ran the hose through the hole in the firewall where the A/C drain hose would be if I had functional A/C. We’re averaging about 65lbs throughout the little cruise I just went on.

I’m assuming that the “reading” I’m getting is just BS voltage fluctuations from being grounded to the block or just hanging loose or being grounded to the block but with grease between.

Funny story… it turns out that I don’t have an oil pressure sending unit. At all. The wire that goes to it is cut and was dangling down against the greasy block. There’s a plug in the pump where the sending unit goes, and my ‘77 block doesn’t have a hole for the one that goes in the galley...

My brother has a manual gauge and I’m gonna try and pick it up from him tomorrow and check it. I’m also gonna be tracing wires to see if I’m just having a wire issue.
