I was trying to help a buddy out today with his car. He has gauges that will peg (jump to full) whenever you turn the ignition on. After digging around the dash and finding all kinds of historical $%^kery we still have a few issues. Two gauges still "peg out" when powered. But, this thing...
So again I am kneeling before the FABO gods for aid with my Mopar. So after a cruise for about an hour, I noticed the brake getting a little more "travel" before stopping and the pedal getting a bit spongy. When I parked in the garage i noticed some smoke and low and behold the master is weeping...
So I wanted to close the loop on this thread for anyone who looks it up in the future. If you're reading this - REPLACE THE DAMNED SWITCH
As @slantsixdan stated, I don't have the wire that you guys keep talking about from post #4 -- I have the "shuttles" shown in the picture in #12 with red...
@dadsbee @Tooljunkie @slantsixdan @BobW @RustyRatRod @67Dart273 I wanted to update this thread for sure in case any one else needs this reference (or can help me any further now).
Short-term and long-term, here's where I am at...
Long term I have some great options from slantsixdan. Dan, you...
Well, if you hadn't figured it out yet I dug into this. I ended up opening up the switch and cleaning up all the contacts and the two slider pieces. Mine is different from the 2 wire pic above - it has 2 central run contacts like the wires but has two small plastic roll pins with some metal...
Yeah, I'm seeing it now. Everything else works normally....its just there's some play in the cam switch and it's enough that the brake light on that side (the side the switch is leaning to) will cause it to go out. I pulled the wheel and can see the "play" in the middle of the switch and tried...
65 Barracuda
Turns out that if I jiggle my turn signal stick it will make my brake light go out on one side, respectively. If it's not EXACTLY center than the right side brake light will be out. That's no bueno.
For any electric experts out there --- do you think it's the turn signal cam...
Well fix one, find another. I re-located that line on the carb and it looks much better now up front. In further look under the car I found another problem at the rear end. :BangHead:
With the add of the electric fuel pump and sender, there's a vent line that comes off the sender (1/4"...
There is a union along the passenger-side frame rail just before that last piece of rigid line. I think I will bend a rigid new line from there up the passenger side of timing cover and into fuel filter. More like this photo...
And yes i should have said - this is a 360 swap with electric pump..
I have a fuel line I'm thinking about relocating. Currently it goes over the headers and gets
hot creating some bubbling in my fuel filter (potential for vapor lock). I'm no expert with fuel lines but is there any reason this would be a bad idea? Or any reason I can't just cut the hard line...
Finally got around to dealing with these. I used straight Dawn blue dish soap - no water mix. It evaporates quick so i would lube the stainless rail a few inches and the two contact edges on the rubber. Went top to bottom pushing it down the rail re-greasing every 3-4 inches.
After reading...
Ugh. Guess ill just get into and see how I do. I had considered the one side then pressure the other like you mentioned - guess ill give that a go. Thanks
I got a pair of these from DTM for my '65 Barracuda - just wondering of any "tricks" to get them slid into the stainless trim piece. they go VERY tight....any good experience is apprecaited as I have never done this before and afraid I will tear the new ones up....thanks in advance to anyone...
