I have Schumacher Tri-Y headers on my 73 Sport 340. Fit nice but still had to dent a driver's side tube for steering box clearance and passenger side tube for tie rod clearance.

Based on 72bluNblu's recommendation, I went with the Ford Contour setup on my 73 Sport with a built 340. I also upgraded the alternator and added a fan controller where each fan can be set separately. In the 3 years since, I've had no cooling issues at all.

just for more info, here's the 200-4R installed with the clearance. And the trans cross member I fabbed for the trans / exhaust clearance.

Don't know if this is helpful in this discussion or not. I installed a 200-4R in my 73 Sport because I wanted the OD since I'm running a 3.91 gear. Here is a photo of how much I had to cut the cross member to get clearance.

I use a small amount of Honda Bond where the two halves meet.

Everyone has their preferences. I use Amsoil Dominator in my 340 Dart and my mini-stock S10 circle track racer. No issues at all.
