update: I was able to get the head off the input shaft. With the lock ring and accompanying washer removed, I rummaged and found a piece of tubing, ~ 16-14 gage that was just short enough of the [hubs] diameter to prevent putting it on. Cut the tube along the length which allowed it to expand...

I too, need to replace the [leaking] input shaft seal. I have the retaining ring out but stopped there. The replacement kit for just the seal seems to want to include what is probably an outer dust shield (closest to the steering coupler). I addition, there is a small "O" ring which I'm...
