From my one experience when they canceled from rain they won’t say anything until: A. The track gets so soaked that they won’t be able to dry it no matter how much time they have. B. They run out of time to dry the track and race before curfew.

Eh, it’s alright. This would be the first time, going twice a year, for over seven years that I got caught out. Appreciate the sentiment!
