Just talked to local machine shop, rough estimate is 1500 in labor including head work. Assuming everything checks out.

I'm still learning the proper lingo in all of this but when I take my stock heads to the machine shop, what exactly am I wanting done in order to "open valves to 2.02" and "bowl work"?

Thanks for all your advice. There is no set budget just like there is no set time limit. Should I take the machine shop a bare block and tell them to go over it or??? Can head work be done to open the valves to 2.02, without buying new heads or is the cost about the same? Not concerned about...

Any tips? I tried c-clamp and socket, I tried bolt with washers. No room to tap it in. Last option is pulling the tranny which I reallllllly don't want to do.

I replaced my shift shaft seal. Was a pain getting it in. The metal casing got a little deformed. My question is will it be ok. Or should I try again with a new one? Here is a picture for reference. Let me know thanks!

Cleaner pics

Bought 3 weeks ago, drove it twice around town. Never seen a speed bump or pothole with me. Was told at time of purchase it was front pump seal leak. Pan it self is saturated while everything else is sludge....

Take a look at these pics. Looks to me like a cracked bell housing. Hacked dust cover. And wrong pan gasket??

What are some areas on the body I need to look for as far as rust? I'm a welder by trade but never done body work.
