    K-Frame: change / swap-out.

Well well well That looks like the ticket right there!

    K-Frame: change / swap-out.

The person selling their K-Frame to me reluctantly said they were going coil over tubular subframe and a LS twin turbo setup. Boo hiss. Haha. They also offered to help if needed. Yeah, all the community I have encountered has been awesome. Just another chapter in the life of my car. I just...

    K-Frame: change / swap-out.

Again another story this can be done with the engine in place.

    K-Frame: change / swap-out.

I wasn’t sure if the fender aprons were strong enough for my initial idea. So what you said about the 2x4 dropping down from the 4x4 to the frame rails is very helpful. I’ll probably cut up an anti fatigue or a yoga mat to pad the wood now I’ve heard someone else has done it.

    K-Frame: change / swap-out.

K-Frame: change / swap-out. 408LA with A518 transmission. I bought a used k-frame with better parts on it than the modified slant 6 unit in my 75 duster. Here’s the parts advantages that will come with the new k-frame: Manual gear box Tubular control arms Kelsey hays 4 piston brakes...

    A500 & A518 electrical connection ?

Bragging: I stated in this post “if I ever finish my project”. Well my A518 out of a 91 van is in the car. The rated 3200 stall converter (for a 727) feels more like 2000, The 408 makes plenty of power to overcome rear 10” aspen brakes. I’m doing the flick the switch setup for the OD in the...

    A500 & A518 electrical connection ?

Introduced in 1990. The A518’s torque converter definitely does not lock up. My 90 D150 is my daily and even though it does not lock up this transmission has saved me a bunch on gas. Old school non locking TC transmissions are 90-92 I believe. When I sourced a A518 for my duster it was from a...

    Radio antenna

The similarities between my 90 D150 series pickup and 75 Duster is that both antennas interchange on the mast. Both antennas are identical. I’m pretty sure the antenna base bolt on the mount didn’t change size through many years. Not sure about a Baracuda. A salvage yard sourced base off a...

    8 1/4 rear

Mgunner is correct about the crush washer preload being just on the bearing. My mistake.

    8 1/4 rear

With 8.25's the pinion depth is set using a crush style washer. Check the preload torque value on the yoke nut before you pull the yoke. Do this with a torque wrench checking more than once and not over tightening the nut. Once your confident of the torque value on the nut; remove the yoke; take...

The Duster project has resumed after a delay.

Thanks for the great comments everyone. Question: ever see someone put "Built Not Bought" on their cool old car? I want to put "Bought Not Built" on the truck. HaHa As for rust? Yea I'm getting a real good taste of what its like to do sheet metal work. I envy those guys who were smart enough or...

The Duster project has resumed after a delay.

Hi everyone. My Duster was put on hold for a bit for what I think was a good cause. I found a RAM D150 up for sale and couldn't pass it up. A one owner 1990 D150LE Club Cab short bed, 2WD, EFI 318, A518 trans all options but power mirrors with less than 39,000mi. This truck is so freaking...

    Picture test.

Learning how to post photos. I'll eventually figure this out. So here is a picture of my roof donor car. A 75 space saver Duster. The donor cars roof wasn't in real good shape if you were concerned. The transplant actually wasn't that hard for a guy just learning how to do body work.

    Photo test: 75 duster. Convertible?

Yup I'm the one who chopped the top off this perfectly good 75 Space Saver Duster.
