    Torque converter Weighted Ballance?

The weight(s) on the side as shown in the pictured torque converter are for balance of the converter assembly itself. Balance weights for an externally balanced engine are placed on the face of the converter. The following two images show original style weights for external engine balance on a...

    Low First Gear 904?

I haven't used any aftermarket stuff, but from what I've seen, some make their own, and some refurbish or reinforce factory parts. What I have seen listed is just the factory ratios. It can be added to earlier transmissions.

    Low First Gear 904?

The wide ratio version of the A-904 was introduced in all Chrysler domestic rear wheel drive cars for the 1981 model year, both A-904 and A-998 variants. It was also introduced into the trucks using the A-904T and A-998. The new gear ratio set was released to work with the higher ratio (lower...

Rest assured, he's quite correct in his assessment here.

Determine 2 or 4 Barrel - by just looking at it?

The pictured 383, or possibly 361, is two barrel carburetor equipped. Although it is hard to tell fully conclusively from the angles of the pictures, which conveniently hide some other clues, an original four barrel on an original intake manifold in 1965 would be a Carter AFB. The left front...

The pictured wiring harness is not for a 1972 Duster. From the pictures, the harness looks like it is for a 1966 or 1967 Charger.

    A833 swapping 1970 slant6 dart

The A-833 4-speed transmission from a 1985 D100 is the longer B/C/E-body length and will not fit an A-body without a fair amount of floor/tunnel/crossmember modification. The transmission is about four inches longer than the A-body version. The shifter mount location on the transmission and in...

    Early/Late 904 measurement?

The change in the A904 Torqueflite input shaft and the corresponding converter hub size change occurred for the 1968 model year. The input shaft size, reaction shaft size, and related parts were changed for more load capacity. The input shaft spline counts changed as follows: The 1960 - 1967...

904 NSS and rooster comb question

The subject later valve body has the part throttle kickdown assembly on the valve body as pointed out, which was standard in most applications by 1978. If desired to add part throttle kick down, using factory parts, to a pre-1971 or some later transmission valve bodies not so equipped, the...

904 NSS and rooster comb question

If you can find an Auveco distributor in Canada, look for number 23155. US pricing is about $20. The last couple that I bought, were from a local Chrysler dealer, number 4209695, for about $3 each, but that was 30 years ago. A junkyard is a possibility for one, but the wiring can be brittle...

904 NSS and rooster comb question

It's worth a shot to try the borescope, but I'm not sure how much you could see beyond the center into the outer areas. There are many turbine, impeller, and stator fins and vanes that might not be too accessible. The lock-up clutch friction surface might be glimpsed near the center for a clue...

904 NSS and rooster comb question

Yes, leave them disconnected. You could cut them off flush for a neater installation, but I'd tuck them out of the way, or maybe heat shrink them to the center wire before splicing it in, just in case I ever want to use the later switch and reverse light setup.
