Just an Idea here, since alot of people cannot just spend $6,000 or $7,000 on a car maybe I can raffle off my Demon? I read Adam's ad today and it got me thinking, and since I had it for sale already I thought I would throw it out there for the Mod's to decide. Maybe $25 or $50 a ticket and if we would do it then decide on how many tickets. At $50 a ticket and 120 tickets I would still be losing money but someone would get a nice 71 solid demon that comes with $4,000 in parts. I have the ad on ebag already and have 115 watchers, but would rather sell to a member..Let me know what you guys think, and of course the Mods..

Thats funny that you posted this today because today during my O Chem lab, my lab partner suggested I do the same for my convertible. We started discussing it trying to figure out the details ( mostly just cost per ticket, # sold to come out close to what I need, not the legalities ). I think that if you could lay out the terms of the raffle as specifically as possible, I don't see how it shouldn't be legal.

Something along the lines of:

250 tickets will be sold at $25 a pop ( $6250 total ). At the end of a 2 weeks ( or some other specific time period ). A ticket number will be chosen at random. ( or you can assign each person a specific number and have a random number generator pick a number.

I think you could have pretty good success selling tickets on here being that ( for the most part ) people trust one another on here. If you could hammer out the details of the raffle a lit bit better, so it doesn't sound like a scam, I'm sure you could also sell tickets locally and probably even on eBay.

I'm really interested to see what comes of this and may even do it as well for my convertible.

We can work the legalities, use paypal and I have nothing to gain. I just thought it would be a great way for someone to get a car cheap and where better to offer then here. If there is a event local coming up in the next 30-45 days when the tickets sell we can pull the winners name with other local fabo members there..?

I would only offer tickets to fabo members and noone else or sites..

Hauk,

You should post a poll question on here with saying something along the lines of that you are thinking about auctioning off your Demon and were first testing the waters:

No, I wouldn't buy a ticket for $25 ( or whatever amount you choose )
Yes, I would buy a ticket for $...
Yes, I would buy multiply tickets for $...

I think that would be the quickest way to really see what kind of response you would get.

Im with Hauk...
I think you might be able to do it right here on FABO and give our community the chance to make it work. Id buy a couple.
Just need to make the selection of winner where there would be no calls of FOUL.
FABO members drawing @ Garlits in November?

If theres an event I also feel it would be best to do the drawing...And if theres one of the Mods that would be there would be best..? If someone would want to post the demon's listing on here so they see what they would be buying a ticket on would be best..Waiting on one of the Mods to ok this and we can work out the details. $25 tickets or $50

I think $50 per ticket might be too steep for some ( myself included ) however, $30 for 1 ticket or $50 for 2 might not be a bad deal

Thats fine, once we goal we would stop the raffle. Also, if any had a question on my honesty I would ask some fellow members here MeMike would be one..I am not in it for the profit, I would be losing money..But I thought of this after Adams email today, and when MeMike needed a car a while back and figured someone here who cannot spend 6-7000 would have a great chance to win.

I really think its a win win situation. People have a great chance at getting a sweet car for barely anything and hopefully the seller is able to bring in some more money than if he tried to sell it out right.

I would be down for a ticket or two... and you could have a third party (someone here) hold the cash.... and possibly figure out a way that the drawing could be done without people suspecting fraud or anything silly like that. (by no means saying you are that way). Sounds like a cool idea and wow what a car!

I would be in too and if it works maybe it can be done on a regular basis because each raffle lets say would run one or two months, then other members could sell there car that way and with different ticket prices depending on what they are looking to get for there car. Just my thoughts but I'm definetly in.

Your best bet would be to have numbered tickets that can split. One half goes to the buyer in the envelope and the other into a bin/hat etc.

Then using a video recorder, have a party at your place and pull the willing ticket while being taped. Then post the ticket number. The winner has a certain amount of time to claim there prize.
