I'm looking for a small u joint (7260) drive shaft. 46 and 1/2 inches between u joint centers. I have the slip yoke. 47 inch would probably work also. Thanks.

I'm not sure what length a 70 Duster 4 speed driveshaft is. I have a 67 Cuda with a 360 engine, 727 trans and an 8 1/4 rear end. The driveshaft I have now is 44 1/2 inches between ujoint centerlines and the slip yoke isn't in the transmission far enough. If I can find a small ujoint driveshaft 2 inches or 2 1/2 inches longer that would leave me with 1 inch to 1 and 1/2 inch free play before the slip yoke bottoms in the trans. I'm trying not to have a driveshaft built because I'm more than likely going to put a big block in it with an 8 3/4 rear in the future and would need a different driveshaft at that point. I was hoping someone had something laying around that would work. Thanks.

Green1 is it a small ujoint drive shaft? If so how much would you want for it? Shipping would be to 16137.

is ther any kinda book that tell us about drive shafts

some factory service manuals do have the driveshaft lengths for the vehicles covered in the manual.I have manuals for 67 Dodge A+B bodies and 70 Dodge A+E bodies that have them but the 72 Plymouth and 75 Dodge manuals for all body styles don't have them.

Thanks Marks340 but 45 1/2 inch is a little short. I'm going by the old Direct Connection chassis manual. I've always used their specs on my drag cars and had good luck. The manual says to have the weight of the car on the wheels then slide the slip yoke in the tranny leaving 1 inch before it bottoms out then measure between the front and rear yoke centers. I bought this car unfinished and the previous owner had the drive shaft cut to fit. I don't know why he had it made so short. The yoke is only in the trans about 1 inch. If I can find one longer than I need I can have it shortened but there is no way to make one longer that I know of.

Green1; I'm going to check locally to see if I can find someone to shorten a driveshaft since yours is 48 1/2 i'll have to have it cut an inch or two. Depending on what they charge it may still be cheaper than having one built. Thanks

local guy that is narrowing my 8 3/4" quoted me $35 to short driveshaft
