Job Completed! it was not very difficult. It helps to remove the heater dash hoses. I have a slide in CD Player so removing the radio and hoses made this a breeze with a nut driver. System pumps now and sounds so much fuller with both front and rear speakers.

Anyone looking for a slightly used stock dash speaker?

Do us a favor and post the speaker model number you used.

Like you said, it's not really difficult, but it is a really tight space under there (and lots of sharp metal edges to avoid.)

What, I didn't mention the discount you get when you order two or more brackets!? You get the second and subsequent ones for only $20 each, and the shipping isn't that much more - whatever the post office charges me for the additional 6-8 oz.

I used a pair of Pioneer TS-G043R HP2 series 120 watt 4" speakers. They sound great!! These speakers come with slide on clips which make mounting the speakers to the bracket very simple. All I needed to do was drill the holes and screw em to the bracket. I got the speakers at Best Buy.
 
Just sent my form in and bought the same speakers off of EvilBay.

My tweeters are much smaller that the holes..I have asked this question directly with no answer..does anyone know how can I install?

Can you elaborate a little bit on the problem you are having? My brackets all have 3" holes, with the intent to install at least 3-1/2" speakers (some folks are mounting 4"). If you are trying to mount anything smaller, I suppose you will need to come up with some sort of clips to compensate for the extra space.

Can you post photos?

You asked about which speakers to use. I have been asking everyone who uses one of these brackets to tell me what speakers they installed. I've heard from a few and the following is a list of some that were used:

Volfenhag ZX832R 3.5" 300 Watts - sounds great in my son's '74 Dart Sport and were really inexpensive on Ebay
Pioneer TS-G043R HP2 series 120 Watt 4" - recommended by Dustermaniac above
Boston S35
Blaupunkt
Someone told me about finding his speakers at Crutchfield's, but didn't say which ones.

There will be others to add to the list as I get more information. My experience with speakers is limited to those we put in my son's car, so I'm not the one to make recommendations. I hope that some of you guys will begin a separate thread to discuss this topic.

Are the tweeters flush with the bracket?
 
Anybody know what size stud is used on the speaker bracket? I know it uses a thread cutting nut but I was thinking of using a locknut, any idea what size I would need?

Not quite sure what the size is, but it's rather small - seems like it was 1/8" or less. What makes one of them unique is its head - it is very thin so it sits down below the defrost vent. They also do not have slotted heads, they have square shoulders under the head that fits into a little "keyhole" slot in a thin clip, so you don't have to use a screwdriver.

I used #10-24 nuts and they worked fine. I have the passenger side of the bracket in but cannot reach the driver side of the bracket enough to get the nut on the back. How did you guys access the driver side of the bracket? I'm having a hell of a time getting to it.

My radio was out and the hoses for the heater box were removed.
