I bought this 1968 Barracuda Convertible in Febuary/March 2011. The car had been in the storage unit for quite a while. apparently they had the body done and painted than drove it into the storage unit where it sat unitl I purchased it. Here is some pictures of it in the storage unit.

This is the car on the way to my house. The wheels were locked up and we had it rolling at the storage unit but when we got it home the wheels had locked up again. The second photo is my brother working on one of the wheels at my house. The last photo shows my oldest daughter trying to be cool in the car. In the background is my first project car a 1990 Mustang Convertible.

Attached is photos of my youngest daughter and I pulling the 318 from the Barracuda. She helped me tear it down and even got grease on her face. The 318 turned out to have a 1978 rebuilt block and 1968 heads. One of the previous owners must have replaced the short block. We pulled the engine becuase we coule not turn it with a wrench and wanted more horsepower.

Good move getting your daughter involved, keep up the good work !!

Glad to see she is not afraid to get greasy and learn how to do the work.

Both my Daughters and I took the fneders and hood off the Cuda on July 3, 2011. We are going to do some metal repair to the inner fenders. Typical rust spots from what I have seen on the inner fneders. I noticed the driver side wheel was sitting a little funny. On closer examination it appears the front A-Arm bracket on the frame rail has been previously welded and the weld has broken. There appears to be a bolt in the weld. Does anyone know if this can be repaired? Shoiuld I have this one removed and replacement fabircated or is there a reproduction part out there?

I think auto rust technicians is repoping them now, can't wait to see it done, nice find.

Very cool family project, you don't see many of those convertibles around.

I think auto rust technicians is repoping them now, can't wait to see it done, nice find.

I checked Auto Rust Technicians website, they do offer a kit. Thank you, I will probably get the sub frame connectors also. I installed sub frame connectors on my '90 Mustang Convertible and they stiffened it up.

Had my oldest daughter helping me in the garage earlier stripping more parts off the front end.

Cool project. That be looking like one of those 7 up special edition Mustangs?

Attached are two photos of my oldest daughter helping me a on the Barracuda. She was grinding the the heads off some bolts so we could remove the inner fender splash shields and removing some popriveted on sheet metal repairs from the inner fenders.

We have gotten a closer look at the front suspension and discovered the shock mount is also broken at the frame rail. We are going to try to locate a frame rail and inner fender. A buddy has a frame table set up and we will take it over there and replace the rails once he is done with the frame with for his Model A.

That is great CudainShed. My Dad raised me within the auto restoration business and I am passing the same knowledge onto my Son. Other than restoring the car, nothing beats involving the family. Keep up the great work :).

The alterkation chops a lot of weight off the front of the car and creates tons of room for headers too not to mention nice tight steering.

Nice find. Outstanding to see your young ladies want to be involved. These are the things that they'll remember and cherish for the rest of their lives. Way to go. Keep up the good work.

You might look into an "alterkation" K frame they utilize mustang II front end parts and I believe do away with most of those original mounts - just a thought - Great project cant wait to see your progress!! http://www.reillymotorsports.com/pricing.shtml

Thanks b67cuda, I went to the Reilly Motorsports page and looked at the kit abd found a article on the web by Mopar Muscle on the kit. The Alterkation kit still required the use of the stock upper A frame mounts which are messed up on my car. So we are back to replacing the A arm mount.

68' cuda, very nice! Looks like a worthy project, you picked a good year. Keep showing your progress!
