what have you done to clear the hood? I mean w/o cutting / using a scoop...

Pictures? I'm currently not at this stage but soon. And pictures to inspire myself would be helpfull....

I'll try to get some pictures up soon when my dad and I get it finished, but I'm putting together a dual snorkel low profile remote filter setup. I took a standard 6" air cleaner base and top plate and have been hacking together and fiberglassing PVC pipes to make the plenum/snorkel setup. I would have just bought a plenum and saved the trouble, but a plenum alone is upwards of $75 and the PVC stuff so far has cost maybe $20.

cutting and rewelding my good old beloved dual snorkel was my first plan too. I'd hate to do so....
BTW, 6.1 w/ XV intake and 750 Holley vac sec.

Yeah, pics would be great...

Well unfortunately I'm not even close to be thinking about filters. But mine will. Be cone filters hoseclamped to the intake aide of my turbos. I know that's not much help but I look forward to seeing what you guys come up with

I know it looks ugly as sin right now, but here's what I'm working on. Should hopefully have the top of the tubes glassed later today, then with any luck some bondo and paint will make it look a little more presentable, lol. I have some pretty major clearance issues with the Mod Man setup, not sure what the XV intake is like. I think it probably looks like it sits a little lower. The Mod Man is about 4.5 inches from the bottom of the runners to the bottom of the carb. The center of the air cleaner setup is a 6" PVC shower drain adapter I cut down. The two side pieces are just 3" elbows that I shaved for clearance around the carb and on top. I'm just sandwiching the center between the baseplate and top of a standard 6" air cleaner I got at the part store for a few bucks. I tried it with just one elbow, but I don't think I was getting enough flow because the secondaries didn't act like they were opening. Hopefully the dual openings will be enough.

Trying to figure out what color I want to paint it when it's done. I have some touch up body color I could use to make it match the engine bay. That or some variety of black so it doesn't stick out too much, lol.

Your idea looks good Map=D>
Just a picture of what I did to show you there is some fresh air set up's out there
I moved the battery to the trunk and used that area to pick up cool air, 1993 Jeep 4.0 breather and filter, Like you I did not want to cut my hood
to get that well needed cool air.

One of the guys at the part store suggested the Jeep plenum to me a while back. Nice to see what it actually looks like. Not sure if it would sit low enough for me or not or if I could get one for a reasonable price. I was looking at the Spectre low profile plenum, but at $75 or whatever it is figured I could come up with something cheaper on my own.

Here's the more or less finished product for what I've been working on. In flat black primer for the time being, but will probably paint it body color one of these days. Need to fill in a few more places with bondo to smooth it out better. Tried it out and it seems to run fine from what I can tell compared to the other setups I've had. It does just barely rub the hood supports, but not enough for me to care right now.
