OK,I've tried searching FABO and .org and I'm not finding what I'm looking for !!! I'm getting ready to build a hot little street/strip /6 and have been told there are block modifications that can be done to my motor !! Can someone explain as I've built 2 motors previously, and only used the HV Oil pump with NO problems at all !!!

its on .org... but just make sure you run a original pump or get a worked one by doug...

the gears wear and break really fast on all the new pumps...

And do not run a hardened Dutra dist gear, on a Comp nitrated cam. They do not play well together.Guzzi Mark

I did finally find it,Thanks !!Can anyone explain this for me ??

"The best way to check these passages is to drill through them with a 5/16 (.312) long shank drill, with the cam side main bolt / stud installed."

Is this the same idea as boring/honing with a torque plate to mimic the torque stress on the area ?

re read my post.should have said OIL pump gear,on a Comp nitrated cam.Guzzi Mark,,,,,Ed,you should have caught that.Mark

no this is to open the hole for more oil flow...

be carefull as not to flood the top end tho...

Can you explain a little more so my simple mind understands !You wouldn't drill through the bolt would you ? That's what it sounds like to me !!And flooding the top end ? Yeah I know,I'm not very knowledgeable in this field !!

well in the oil mod guide it shows him drilling thru the oil galleys...

one thing he is doing is slightly enlarging them but also removing any burs that hinder flow...

but if you make it flow to much to the top end you are starving everything else...

and what bolt are you talking about??

FYI
I have the hardened Gear oil pumps as well. Massaged for better more consistent flow. PM me for price and availability.
Thanks,
Frank

"with the cam side main bolt / stud installed."

This is the one I was talking about !Also,is it just this one galley that would be drilled,or is it at all the mains ?? I know I sound like I'm asking dumb questions, but I'm getting closer to actually doing all the work and I don't want to screw it up !!

do them all... you just dont want to enlarge the holes to much...

the goal is to get rid of any burs or bad casting area's where the oil will be restricted...

the reason you install the bolts is so if its in the way it will get cleaned up and a full hole will be be made again...

its a bummer... i polished the whole rocker side of the head and didn't take pics...

A shame my head won't fit in my new tumbler !!LOL Any benefit to painting galley areas ??
