Hey All.

I am installing a bone stock 78 440 in my 68 valiant.

I need a clear answer. Can I use a factory exhaust manifold? If so Can someone post a picture of one??

I am trying to not have to buy headers this year. I have a pile of stock exhaust manifolds and I'm hoping I can squeeze a set in there.

just trying to get her on the road before I move.

Thanks

but most likley will not turn out very well. You can go over to Bigblockdart.com. Go to there tech page, lots of info there. I used this site to do my 440 4 speed 72 duster. Lots of great info.

what did the 440 come out of? u can use c-body exhausts the hp or the non-hp ones.also the b-body hp exhausts.will have to milled about 1/16 for c-body ones.

The 440 came out of a motorhome so obviously the manifolds need changing.
I took all the "spagetti" off the motor and am installing. Proper carb.

The manifolds I am hoping to use came out of a 68 383 c-body.
Also I am hoping to keep my power steering...

those c-body mainfolds will work with powersteering after u get them milled.they will not fit right if u don't get them milled.

Do I just have the surface milled? And at the same angle?

How much needs to come off?

Thanks in advance

Just happen to have part that could solve the problem, check out chrysler part number for the drivers side factory stock manifold, is it 3751068-2D made on 9/21/1972. it's cast iron but was original stock to make the big block fit in the A body.
I have a complete set, cleaned, bead blasted and ceramic coated for heat dissipation
that was going in the next time but have decided to use headers instead.
Oh yea, its marked as made on the "dayshift" if that matters? LOL Arnold

"3751068" is a LH '73-'74 B-Body 400/440 ex. manifold, not made for BB A-body, as they stopped making those in 1969. Now, that manifold may work in a BB/A-Body, but was definitely NOT made for that application.

There are BB/A-Body - specific manifolds, but they are fairly rare, and 383 ones (below) are usually $500-up...440-only are ??????
