See title... I dont really want to pay for the torque strap deal from schuemacher(sp) and just want to get this stroker motor in without having to worry about breaking rubbers.

You have a PM.

A steel strap or turnbuckle bolted from the head to the frame rail wouldn't be a bad idea whether you stay with rubber mounts or go to a solid version.

Years ago I had a friend with a machine shop make a pair some for me. Solid blocks of steel, drill through & tap for studs in the same locations as the stock rubber mounts, thread in the studs and weld them in place from the backside of each stud. Simple enough and worked great.

Mancini racing has them. Moroso P/N 62540 for SB's. 38 bucks.

He's looking to swap a 400 block in place of the 360.
I made the same mistake until I realized this was in the "Big block A-body tech section"!

Schumacher has conversion mounts but I'm not sure if the solid Moroso mounts can be used with them.

i made my tq strap out of a a big treaded shaft and 2 long treaded rods with a beand on each end 1 hooks on the k frame and the other hooks on the head and held in place with a bolt into a hole in the front of the head..the 1 on the k just hook it in to a opening in the k and tune it and it pulls the motor down are turn the other way and it lets it loose...hope this help..if you need a pic let me know i can get you 1 tomm.. mike:D

Yeah I should have made myself more clear. I am swapping out my 360 for a 500CI WEDGE stroker motor and dont want to have to spend all the money for the schuemaker(SP) conversion mounts and torque strap (like $250) if I could find a moroso style solid mount for the big block in an A at around 40 bucks or so.

Thanks for all the help though guys, looks like I am gonna have to go with the two rubber mounts and torque strap from schuemacher. He did say that he had a solid mount for the drivers side if I wanted to use a solid one on that side and a rubber one on the passenger side.

I guess schuemacher is the only place that makes the conversion mounts from a LA?
