I am planning on getting some new rear wheels and have narrowed it down to these two.

Which ones have you guys run on your car? Are they worth it for the street? Do you like them? Which would be better for the regular street driving?

Thanks

I ran the ET street radials. They hook great and ride nice. Only ran them for a hundred miles or so before I sold the car so I cant comment on thread life but I wouldnt expect it to be very long. I did get caught in a bad rain storm and lived to talk about it, Just take it easy on wet pavement. I ran 275-60-15s

If you want the car to hook at the track, the street e.t. radials are the way to go,as for the street i run a set of cooper radials on the back, the e.t.'s are way too sticky for the street, and kick up everything..

So are you saying the Sportsman street radial would be better for more street driving. The car will see more street than track time.

I'll be running the 255/60/15 on wheels that have been widened to 15x7.5 with a 5" BS. The offset kit gave me some good clearance. The 7.5" wide wheel is the minimum for a 275 series tire if I can get one to fit without a minitub and spring relocation kit. It's too bad I can't get a 265/60/15. Dunlop makes the GT qualifier in that size but I heard bad reviews on that tire.

Maybe someone whos running them will chime in,i've never used them but i do know how sticky the m.t.'s get,and pickup everything, thats why i have a set of cooper cobras just for the street not that the duster see's much of that anymore, the trick is to have a pair of stickies for the track, and normal tires for the street/highway...

I have the 255/60R-15 ET streets on my 66, it about the biggest I can fit in the stock wheelwell. They hook pretty well, but I have only been to the track with it 3 times so I am not sure how long they will last. So far, so good. They are a little sticky for normal driving and they do pick up a lot of stones.

They don't last long if you go to the track a lot,i went through 2 set's and started on my third this past season..

Being that sticky.....are the stones killing your paint on the rear quarters? I may go ahead and just get a pair of plain street tires until I get ready to take the car to a track. I still need to get a bolt down roll cage for the convertible before I take it to the track. That might be a little while though.

Thanks for the info guys.

I think thats your best bet,Ive ran the mt et radials and put alot of miles on them-rain and shine-and I have to say they held up well considering what they are.I always worried about something bad happening so I use plain old radials for cruising now and put the ets on to head to the track-and maybe to look tough on the local streets-eh street racing-no not me.

I had 325/50R15 ET Street Radials on my last Mustang. They hooked pretty good at the track. For daily duty I would pass on 'em. They wear pretty quick, and I got caught ONCE in the rain. With the trans shifting itself at the lowest RPM possible it put the car sideways every time on the 1-2 shift. Scarey ride home.

Living in SoCal it's practically a desert. Haha. Getting caught in the rain would be bad and that seems to be the common drawback.

With that decided.....what is a really good looking and performing street/cruising tire in the 255-265 range?

BTW, I don't like the raised white lettering on the BFG T/As so they are out even with the letters on the inside.

Hi-jacked the thread to something else haha

I ran the Street Drag Radials on my car this summer. P255 60R 15. My car was used about 95 percent at the strip. They hook great, but wear quickly. I'm down to the wear bars on my third set! Thats over a thousand dollars in rubber this summer! I will be using the M/T Drag slick for next season. They do seem to drive fine on the street. I still think you would go thru a set of regular street driving in a year. If you have a real quick street car, the street drag radial is the way to go.
