This car is not too far from me. Do you think it's worth a drive by?
He has a few other roached out rods and a small lot.
I am not familiar with b/rb engine codes or where to look on the block for them.... if I can even see them. Any tell tales I should look for?
I just finished mini tubs on my 63 so I am curious to see how & what was done.
$6500 is a lot but.............If it's the right stuff...........FIRST DIBBS! lol!
Thanks for any input! & don't tell my wife you saw this!

I have my doubts that it is a 440 due to the fact of the clearance between the valve cover and blower motor, looks like a low deck motor to me.

If I wasn't already building something similar, I'd consider it if it was closer. Keep in mind, I didn't see any exhaust on it and that will be a huge expense; custom headers, unless you can build them yourself.

Check out that I'd pad on the block boys it's definitely rb and could be a 426 wedge
The I'd pads are in a different location on the b series blocks

Thanks Scott! How can I tell if I am standing in front of it? What is the diff in locacion of the I.D. pads? Any pointers on head I.D.?

there isn't one on a low deck... there is a valley on a B block... but your right on... its an RB for sure... just have to look up what heads it should have and pull a valve cover... it those are max wedge heads i pick it up for sure...

it sure isnt a wedge head,i'd bet its a 440 or even a 383

I have news. ALL B/RB engines are wedge heads!!!

Look at the photo. Sure looks like an RB id pad to me, exactly north of the distributor cap

Look at this photo. An RB engine has a horizontal ID pad (parallel to the ground) and this one is visible immediately to the driver side of the dist. hold down clamp, and immediately forward of the bolt you see on the far driver side in the valley pan hold down.

This ID pad has some other info, plant, shift, etc, but at the LEAST it will say 26 or 426, 44 or 440, etc.

No doubt about it. It's an RB. Looks like a very nice installation, too. Although.......NO WAY in HELL would that carb/spacer and air cleaner fit under the hood with it closed. My guess is he took pics with all that in place and removed it to shut the hood.

If it is the real deal 426, max wedge heads, dana 60
Even starts and smokes the power train is worth what he is asking.

When your standing in front of it on your right on top of the block in front
Of the valley pan that 1 1/4" x 2" flat pad has the cubic inch displacement stamped on it along with other info like the year and some stamping
On undersized bearings and such there is a good chance that could be a 426
If so it will have 426 stamped on the I'd pad as for the heads you would need to pull the valve cover to get the numbers and there is an I'd pad on a b series engine it is located on the block on the same plane as the head surface just above the water jacket outlets where the water pump attaches that pad would right below the distributor hole

i apologize there sure not max wedge heads, maybe just some 516 or 906 & i couldn't get the picture bug enough for my blind eyes to see the raised pad..
thanks scooby doo..:prayer:

Can't be a "real deal" cause Chrysler never made a Super Stock early A.

I think he was reffering to it being a real 426 max wedge engine maybe

It's not......at least not anymore. It's missing key parts that MAKE the Max Wedge package, even if the rest of the engine is.....if that is the case, then it WAS a Max Wedge.

In any event, it's still slicker than deer guts on a door knob.

All that motor and a single-pot master cylinder....that's living on the edge.

Well, it doesn't LOOK like it's run in the car. Lets hope they were plannin a brake upgrade. lol
