Looking for proper color for slant six in 71 Duster. What brand has the closest color. Also does anyone has pics? Thanks

Proper color is blue. Unless it is a show car normal krylon is fine. Chrysler used to have its own line of aerosol engine paint available for the extra picky.

I tried Eastwood ceramic and it looked like a mix of the blue and turquoise. It sprayed nice and was pretty but not even close in color. I called and they didn't seem to care so I used Bill Hirsch paint. It turned out nice and it was the right color. I'm at work for 2 more weeks so I can't post pictures. I've heard good stuff about the POR paint also.

It's regular Mopar blue. You can either buy it online for $10-15 a can or you can go down to Napa and get the Krylon version for $5.

From experience I can tell you that the Krylon color is close, but not exact. One of the main positives is they have that special style spray cap on the can and the paint lays down 10x better than the real Mopar paint does. Makes it real nice to spray on even coats. I was impressed and probably wont ever be buying the more expensive stuff again.

A couple weeks ago, I purchased the Mopar engine paint (new can variety - big blue "M" logo). The color match is not good. If I did it again, I would go with something other than the Mopar engine paint.

Krylon is good. VHT's is close.

I have a quart of KBS havent used but they are honest that its 73-86 Chrysler blue and really like there stuff just dont get it on your hands it would stick to oil . VHT makes a good product also as far as spray cans go. Be careful many of the temp paints need baking to cure right some dont just read the attorney print well on the back.

I bought this from NAPA. Can was labeled Dodge blue.

The Mopar paint may be a good paint, but the color is a blue/green.
Was it the batch I got? Don't know.

I want to say I used Duplicolor chrysler blue:

Chrysler SB blue is Plasti kote 232

Hemi orange is Plasti kote 226

Available at car quest. You may have to order it.

We have a mopar nut at ours that keeps it in stock.

I'm not sure of any other colors that Plasti kote makes.

Rustoleum is now making Engine enamels. Available at AutoZone here in OH. I had great results with it in Chrysler Red for my 67 Dart. I believe they had it in Mopar Blue & Hemi Orange as well.
I started with Duplicolor engine paint but was not impressed, especially after seeing it burn off of my exhaust manifold entirely within a week. I mean, it's made for that! Up to 500 degrees it says. I seriously doubt my engine got anywhere near half of that. Very poor gas resistance as well. Your mileage may vary.... Good luck

Engine paint is not made to take the heat that the exhaust manifold puts out. They make special paint for them/it. Ceramic coating is the best but pricey.

I used Ford Blue from Auto Zone they make 2 different ones, it is the lighter of the 2. It is really really close.

What the engine color for a 1963 slant six?
Red unless its a truck block, then it MAY be yellow. International Harvester red is close if you cant find the Mopar red. The Mopar branded paints are very runny thin, not good coverage unless you put on 3 coats. A little pricey for 3 coats.
