I'm in the final process of finishing my new motor and thought I would throw it out there to see who can get the closest guess on hp and tq. It is going on the engine Dyno Saturday January 26. Engine specs are
77' 440 block
Bore - 4.375"
Stroke - K1 4.15" crank 2.2" journals
Rods - K1 6.76" ARP 2000 bolts
Pistons - Ross flat tops .990" pin
Pistons are .007" in the hole with .047" quench
11/1 compression
2275 gram bobweight
Hughes main girdle with stock caps
Milodon external oiling

Hughes solid flat cam and light weight lifters
Intake .651" lift 268 duration at .050"
Exhaust .661" lift 272 duration at .050"
108 centerline degreed at 105
Harland sharp 1.6 rockers

Heads are Indy EZ-1 set up and ported by Modern Cylinder Head
84cc closed chamber
Titanium retainers

Intake will get experimented with on the Dyno. Starting out with an Indy tunnel ram and 2 750hp carbs. Will also try Indy single plane with a 950hp and a 1000hp. I will use whatever has the best curve.
Im hoping this thing will be all done by 6,200-6,500 rpm. This will be run on pump 93 octane. If I am missing any info let me know. So lets see who has the closest hp and tq guess and at what rpm.

I'm gonna guess 697HP and about 642Torque @7200 Rpm. That thing is gonna want to spin up, but it'll make a lot of torque, so you won't have to rev it up, unless you wanna. I'd bet a Dominator in 1050 size would make'r talk.

Good Luck,
Looks like a good one.

I've got a few torque figures in my head, but the rpm range is the mystery at this point. I'm guessing the intake flow on the heads will be in the 330/345 range? The one question i have before making a wild guess is, do you know what diameter primary header will be used on the dyno?

2 1/8" primary's on the Dyno. Also looking for guesses as to what intake will work best. Tunnel ram or Indy single plane...

Pistons are .070 in the hole. You say .047 quench. might want to check those numbers. I think you mean .007 in the hole

Im going to say 685hp@6600 640tq@4800 w/ single 700/650 w/TR

TR will make more power. Indy intakes dont have the best track record for BIG power.

Sorry, but I'm on the lower side = 574 HP. I hope I'm wrong and it is much higher! Best of luck.

I'm working on a 340 6 pack now. The parts are at the machine shop waiting their turn. I'll guess mine will be around 325 HP with X heads and .484" lift. I can't wait to get it back for assembly. What a rush it is to bolt them together.

Almost identical to mine except i used a comp .575 solid roller an m1 and 1050 dominator.Seat of the pants feels like 600. So with more cam i,m guessing you will be 625 to 630 at 6k.Not sure how much the solid roller profile i,m using will stack up against your added lift and 1.6 rockers.

I'm still thinking about my guess, and i don't know much about the Indy intakes, but i'm thinking the tunnel ram is gonna make the best curve, especially under the peak. I'm not writing off the single plane for peak power at this point and carb calibration may be the most critical in the end. I'll post my numbers after a little more thought :D.

Just for comparison. My last motor made 600 hp. It was a stock stroke 440 and unported Indy ez1 heads and a smaller solid cam. That was with the t ram and 2 750's.

Well, here goes............

620 TQ
Tunnel....@ 5100
Single.....@ 5300

655 HP
Tunnel....@ 6700
Single.....@ 6500

Like i said earlier, i think the tunnel ram will give a wider curve......time will tell. Thanks for the opportunity to make a guess. Hope you blow thru the 700 mark and make us all look bad....:D.

Thanks for all the guesses so far guys! Looks like the HP and TQ range is all over the board. Keep em coming!

Ok brian, Heres my shot using desktop dyno..4BBL-HP 723@6500 T.Q. 640@5000
T.Ram-HP 739@7000 T.Q. 651@5500
Those numbers are with cam straight up @108*
With cam advanced 3* 4BBL-HP 706@6500 T.Q. 624@5000
T Ram- HP 721@7000 T.Q. 631@5000
NOTE: Desktop dyno only goes in 500rpm increments and obviously advancing cam lowered the rpm where peak power is achieved.
I have checked program against actual dyno tests and it usually is pretty close if all inputs are close to actual specs. So we'll see!

I am gonna get on the GUESS board....

652hp/612ft lbs at 6800rpm....might turn 7200-7500 but will be on the downslope above 6700.

I think you'll find the best power with a Single Plane intake.....and at least the 950hp carb, really would like to see the numbers with a 1150 Dominator.

Good Luck! :happy1:

Tunnel ram - 660hp @ 6100 600tq @ 4800
SP w/1000 - 625hp @ 5800 625tq @ 4400

It looks like everyone thinks the tunnel ram will make more power. The tuner keeps telling me that he believes the single 4 will make the best average power. I hope you guys are right and the tunnel ram works better so I don't have to change hoods or fuel lines as its all set up the the t ram already. Thanks for the guesses guys!

Numbers are in! It was a great day on the Dyno. We spent most of the day playing with the single 4 bbl and not too much with the tunnel ram. We came up with the best tune with 38 degrees timing and a 1" aluminum carb spacer. We only ran the 950hp and did not mess with the 1000 because it did not look like it wanted more carb. Well here's the numbers...
Indy Single W/ 950 HP peak 749hp at 6500 and 669tq at 5300
Tunnel Ram W/ (2) 750 HP's 773hp at 6500 and 667tq at 5700
I decided to run the single 4 on the car because of how responsive it is. It revs like a circle track motor. Instant throttle response! I can't be happier with it. Thanks for the guesses guys.

Yikes!!! Man, congratulations on some serious power . Looks like 75 Dusters simulator was pretty good on this one...:D
