I was looking for help on this problem ! I have 205/70-14 all around on my dart . It also has air shocks in back . When the car sits on the ground the passenger rear tire to the fender well is tighter than the driver side and going down the road I get a slight cut on the side wall of my tire on the passenger side ! Can't hear it or feel it , but the inner lip of quarter is slightly cutting tire , would like to fix this before even thinking of new tires ! Any ideas out there ?

If you are cutting the side wall with 205-70-14s you have something that should be obviously wrong.

Or you have some wheels with a crazy offset.

I would grab a tape measure and start looking. Check where your spring perches are mounted. Look for "Homemade" welds in that area.

Check all your bushings on the front and rear of the springs. Do you have extra long shackles?

my 72 Scamp is exactly the same, it is common for these cars,
I cut off 1/4 inch off the rear wheel well lip (enough for wheel clearance) and still have enough lip for the trim to screw onto..

Common to be offset a little, sure. Rubbing with 205-70-14s, no way. He should have a couple inches between the sidewall and body.

Again, very wrong offset on the wheel, spring mounts in the wrong location, failing or incorrectly modified rear suspension components and/or the car took a hard hit at one point moving a suspension pick up point.

I will have to get tape out and start measuring , everything in stock No long shackles no made welds ,this is a very clean car , don't know the offset to the wheels ! It just needs about 3/8 of an inch to drivers side to fix problem !

I concur. a 205 70 should not be rubbing, especially on a 14x5 or 5.5 inch wide wheel. I would guess it took a hit at one time

Just went out my measured driver side has 1" between tire and lip of quarter , passenger has 1/2" !

ohh, snap! I wasn't tracking the 5.5 wide wheels in that thread..

I stand corrected...
