72 Duster 340 4 speed. No title in salvage. Owner thinks it is worth a fortune, but back glass is out and shark tooth grill is smashed. Not running. Trans is in the trunk. Car is a bucket seat bucket of rust. Motor turns in my hand and is original to car. Opinions on whether I should make an offer or keep my mind on my other projects?

you have $35,000 to put the rust bucket back together properly? if not let it rot.

if you can get it cheap enough it may be worth parting.

Exactly the Bucket seats are worth $500 bucks alone!

are they? post pics of them cuz id like to see what they look like.....rusted out frames, rotten, sprung out seat cushions with deteriorated, ripped, torn, sunbeatin fabric? .....500 bucks? NO THANK YOU.

I wouldnt pay that, and im sure some other mopar idiot wouldnt either.

and if he did...hes a mopar idiot and thats why these prices are sky high for mopar junk. people think they have gold, when it's actually ****.

peopel do.. thats why i went with the procar seats. no way was i paying 3-500 dollars for a torn up set of garbage seats only to put another thousand into them to get them looking good and still have an uncomfortable non-reclining seat.

ok even if there are $1500 worth of parts on it. unless you really need those parts i wouldn't pay much more then $500 for that wreck. if you part it what are ya really making on it? gotta decide what your time is worth pulling it apart and all. unless it was dirt cheap i wouldn't and couldn't be bothered with it.

Thanks guys...buckets would need completely redone. Aside from glass and the drivetrain the rest is beat down. Well the drivetrain is too. I did not want to pay more than a grand, but the owner thinks it is worth a mint. It is sitting next to 3 other s6 dusters and a 73 and 74 Cuda that are as bad. Again buckets and trim on the cudas with center console. One with a 318 the other a non running 440hp.

Well there are 4 dusters and 2 cudas along with a pile of other old muscle cars 2 miles from my house. Never going to move....my brother and I used to drag cars like this home, tear off all the parts, make the engine run, and pack it all in the barn. He sold everything when I left for college and kicks himself to this day. I would have paid 50 bucks for it then....now prices are nuts.

You might he able to get $1500 for the parts but then your time removing then and marketing them is worth nothing. Neither would be getting a trailer and moving the car. So maybe somebody would give you $500 for the block after you spend 3 days work getting it out, tearing it down, and checking it out taking a risk the block is a useable block. Also why would the tranny be out and in the trunk if its all good?. Still if lots of the little parts are there, all the pedals, linkage, radiator, exhuast manifolds, pullies, tach, etc. And you need them or have nothing better to do with your time then there might be some profit to be made. Sounds like the owner wouldn't take even $1500 anyway.

If you do buy and part it out....I need the bucket seats!!!

But....Im not paying $500 for them or anywhere near that.....

That type of person never ceases to amaze me; think they have a goldmine and in reality a rotted out bucket
