What's it worth?

-
Well, my wife isn't in a big rush for hers and said she'd rather I get mine done first so hers would be sittin awhile. Right now my 318 duster isn't much farther along than the 340 car. My plans are/were to get the 318 running and unless I can find an 833 for cheap it'll probably get backed by an ax15 from a dakota as the trans tunnel is already hacked up. I'll get the car running, driving and stopping good then focus on body and interior. Once it's all said and done I'd like to put a 340+6 or 360+6 in it. Now if I got the 340 car I'd swap most of the "340" parts over to it and probably just run the 318 and a 904 in it till I get a 340.

Now that all being said, I noticed some of y'all asked about the paint color.. If I don't paint it the original color, the interior won't be original color and drivetrain won't be original would it be worth it? I'm not planning on ever selling the car but if I would what would a car like that be worth? Basically, what would the car be worth if it were set up like the pics below but was built with the 340s shell and fender tag compared to using the 318 car with no fender tag?

I completely understand what he is trying to do.

Over the last 25 years, I've seen myself and have seen others do/try the same thing. And I've learned from the net end result that starting with car that is not stripped of it's parts is a much cheaper, much less time consuming, and much greater change of actually finishing the car, than buying a stripped shell.

The cheap initial "buy in" is a temptress that bites you in the end.
And I completely see where you're coming from Steve!! It's the difference in the initial buy in, as you said, between a complete solid car and a roller that makes it tempting and easy to buy the roller.

A 318 with no fender tag like that picture , $9,000 maybe. 340- 14,000+
But keep in mind if I use the 318 car it will eventually get a 340 or 360 (possible 6-pak on either motor) with a 5 speed or depending how much I like the 5.9 magnum, OD swap it'll get that. And if I use the 340 car it'll probably get a 340/904 eventually.

Yea true. Course either way I'll never get my money back if I would sell. But I don't plan on selling either. Course plans can change. Lol

What autox is saying is why spend more money to buy a real 340 car in rough shape/missing everything and then change color etc. anyway. You are better off to buy a better car for the same money since you are going to build it your way and not correct to the fender tag.
