Damn that looks bad. Thanks for the picture though. For some reason I want to see the carnage when I hear about those kinds of things. The wife will throw up though. Yeah I know, I'm a weirdo but that stuff doesn't bother me to see. Hope it heals up well for you.
 
man I know that hurts, you can feel you heartbeat. Reminded me of my Dad getting his caught in a combine pulley. Belt was slipping and he grabbed belt to help it and when it caught his thumb went about half way round the pulley and the pulley ground aboout halfway thru his thumb before I got to him and cut the belt. I took him to the hospital in my 48 Willys p/u with 440/727/8 3/4" with 3:23 gears. I had her tached up pretty good and he looked over at me and said "this makes twice I have rode in this thing" I said "I thought this was your first time" he said "and it is my last" I had to laugh even though it wasn't funny. I did the exact same thing to my right hand, but I did a better job. I tore off my index and middle at the tips. They sowed the middle one back on but we couldn't find the tip of the index. They cut the bone back and pulled the skin over. The nail grew back on the end of my finger, and had to be removed. Quack also ground the bone down more and I lost the use of my joint.
 
Holy Crap! That looks PAINFUL......
I hope you feel better and thank God it wasn't even worse.
I would be bummed, it will take time to feel ok with it.
 
Here's an update, I saw my hand doctor this morning. He says I'm healing up very well and he is happy to see flesh and new skin starting to fill in around the end of my finger. The x-ray shows how the last joint was amputated at the time of the accident.

My wife, feelin sorry for me, trying to make me forget about the pain by giving me a foot massage! She's a keeper and I love her lots!

GAHHHH!!!!! MOTHER OF PEARL!!!! best wishes your way for a speedy recovery!! man seems like the most simple mistakes hurt the most.....like reaching up behind a dashboard and touching off the ammeter to the firewall/cowl bracing.....ask me how i know....guahhhhwahwahh that pic gives the the heebie jeebies...man o man.....
