I was wondering what would be a good alternative to TTI headers for my 71' 340 Duster? I just cannot shuck out the $823 they want for them. Sadly I have a brand new set of TTI B engine headers for an A body....But anyhow wondering what others are running out there?

"Dougs" were on sale, the uncoated ones were something on the order of 400? Cheaper is uncoated Hedmans for a little over 200, those are the "draggers" that go under the steering.

I am looking to get the most out of my 71' 340. I love driving the car. It is a stock bottom end, J heads, Air gap intake, Comp XE 274 H Extreme energy cam, holley 650, 4 speed and 3:55 SG. Oh and it has a new 2 1/2 exhaust on it. I just love driving the car and it really gets busy when it needs to so I figured I would just see what was out there.

I don't think you're going to see much performance difference with any of them especially with a mild-moderate setup like that, just my opinion. If you're not going to run the car down low, use the hooker/hedman/a million other companies design.

Try trading those off for some smallblock headers,, just a thought.

I personally run the Summit headers, (I know the pavement scrapers). I have never scraped mine yet and for 110 bucks to my door............

Well, 25% off at autozone.

Makes the coated dougs d453 about 471+ tax with free shipping. Hard to beat them at that price. tti's are WAY overpriced in comparison.

could someone help me? I own a brasilian charger, which is the same body of the dart, A-body, with the 318 engine withstock heads , but I would buy a header that possesses the same design TTI or Doug's D453, but with a more affordable price, because I have to import to Brazil and freight is very expensive, could someone point me to some manufacturer or similar model?

If there was an alternative nobody would buy the Doug's or TTI. I finally broke down and paid for the Doug's, they are worth every penny, all things considered. Hookers and similar work just fine, but they don't fit as well and to me they are a pain in the neck to get on and off the car.

So much to think about...any pictures of those summit headers bad sport? I'd be curious to see how much they hang Down and the way they fit. I'd trade those TTI big blocks for a comparable small block set for sure

They do hang down on the driver side, I was just looking at them today after I pulled the car out. I have about 7" of clearance, and honestly have not scraped them yet. Yet being the key word.

What I don't like about them is the fact you can see the driver side and not the passenger side. It would be much nicer to have them both tucked up like the Doug's or TTI's

One of these days when I can justify the expense I will upgrade.

Maybe in the future I can spring for a set of Dougs or TTIs as well. If I can can move the BB TTIs that should give me a little capitol to make it happen. Just increase the Duster performance all I can. Im holding out for a Dart Sport later to use the 340 manifolds on. If (and when) I find that project it will be a daily driver type.

From what I understand they are about equal in quality. Doug's are less expensive, when I do decide to spring for new headers it will be Doug's as long as the price stays competitive.

With the occasional 20-25% discounts that show up for Dougs, IMO they are a better value.

You likely won't notice a difference in performance between the two, it's so small. Plus you can use the saving to buy something that will make up the 5hp difference. Like a better converter.

What size tube are the BB TTI's?
