Insurance for weekend car

I've been using them for years,

I think my 69 dart was $140 a year or so

My car isn't anywhere near stock and have owned it since 1981 so there really is no replacement for it so I had the policy changed to a stated value of 30k and it's around $225 a year.

And for $45 a year they insured my old motorcycle too

i use state farm for all my cars.. classics and daily.. the classic cars 70 swinger and 66 corvair do not cost me very much to insure and i drive them whenever.. swinger is insured for 20k and the corvair for 9k.

I have both the Duster and Dart Sport with Hagerty for $20,000 each " Guaranteed " value and I have no mileage limits and I also have towing and parts and tools loss up to $750.00 on each vehicle for $355.00 a year. I just had to send a couple of pics to them of the outside, inside, trunk area and engine. No appraisal. Girl called me the same day I sent the pics and told me she had no problem insuring them for that amount and if I needed more to let her know. I am pleased with them.

I use Grundy

How do they treat you?

I called them for comparison purposes and their premiums were higher, I could not just go for a drive in my car, it could only be used for parades, car shows etc. Limited mileage to boot.

I have both of my daily-drivers insured thru American Family, so I asked my agent about insuring my 1965 Barracuda. I have agreed-value coverage for $13,500 with no limitations, and I pay $125 per year. By contrast Hagerty wanted a minimum of $250 for the same coverage, but also had restrictions on mileage & where and when the car could be driven.

Everybody thank you for the help

I went with Hagerty, got a great plan with plenty of miles at a 1/3 the cost of State Farm
I have title, insurance. Now all I need to do is finish rebuilding the motor

Looks like you've already made your decision, but I'll throw in my two cents. I've got Grundy.

The pro is that it's for agreed value. You tell them what you want to insure it for and they charge you based on that. Also, it's cheap for the coverage. Mine is covered for about $18k for about $280 a year.

The con is that they don't want you to drive it for anything but pleasure, as in car shows, cruises, etc. No errands. Technically, you aren't covered if you are on your way to a car show and stop at a grocery store to get sandwiches and something happens in the parking lot. I arm-wrestled with them about that, saying that it's not a reasonable thing to expect. I also said that I occasionally would drive it to work to go to a car show after work only on nice days. They reluctantly agreed.

Oh yeah, don't ever mention anything about a drag strip or autocross!

I have Hagerty, great to deal with, I can use the car as I please.
covers my towing, tools and the spare parts. all I had to do was answer a couple
questions and send some pictures. as someone else stated its covered for pretty much every thing but a pass down the strip. once you hit the water box its my problem until I hit the pit road.

I use American Collectors car insurance , they insure my cars and my collectables ( trains , slot cars , model kits , etc )
