Just trying to figure out if it is something on my end or if times are just bad right now for selling. Let me know what you think please. I need something with better gas mileage than this. Also, I have not yet updated the ad, but I just found the receipt that shows the the new long block being replaced roughly 40k miles ago. Will this make a difference at all?

Thanks in advance, any help with this would be great.

I may be way out of the ball park, but looks like cars just aren't moving very fast right now. I have a car listed on B Bodies only for $5995 and haven't even had a responce, good, bad or other. I guess you have to wait for the right person to come along.

It wouldn't bring that around here but the price depends on the market in a given area. Green car prices are well under other cars prices. I put up two 1998 Ford Taurus cars for sale the same week. One was silver with 168K miles and had been wrecked on the right rear quarter panel but was repaired nicely but as usual the silver paint didn't match plus had at least 5 owners. The second one was green with under 100K miles, never wrecked, perfect paint, two owners and everything on the car was mint with all the maintenance records since new. Both car were really nice with no mechanical issues. The silver one sold two days later while the green one took about a week to sell. The green one sold for $500 less than the silver one even though it was the best buy.

KBB says $2302, but this didn't give an option for the motor replacement. So, still not sure how much of a difference it would make if any.

Oh ok. I would have thought it would be the other way around considering the history on the silver one. Thanks for the info.

I thought it was a decent price until I got to the rear main leak and a possible trans issue. I would try to fix the other small stuff also.

I did too. I priced them both for the same amount of money knowing that green sold cheaper in this area and I thought both of them would bring with in $200 of the asking price. The silver one sold at asking price, there were three people in line with the cash but none of them bought the green one. An older couple bought it.

You have seat covers on the front seats... What is it like under them? If they seats are in good condition take the covers off, take some pictures and put them in your ad.

The seam in the drivers seat is coming apart on the bottom left side. I think that is the only tear, will have to look. Otherwise I don't remember them being too bad. Will check them out. Thanks for the tip.

One in every batch I guess :finga:

maybe someone misinformed you about the name of our forum here, but im guessing there is more then one in this batch, I just happened to be the first to show it

To be honest, hearing that an engine that only has 40,000 miles on it already needed the intake and valve cover gaskets replaced and has a leaking rear main seal would make me suspicious of the rebuild job. I applaud your honesty but unfortunately there are times when disclosing every last problem in an ad could scare a lot of guys off. Not saying not to disclose them, just wait until they look at the car to tell them. Even though the clear coat is peeling it's not a bad looking car and once people see it they might not think so much of the small things that need repair. I think your price is just a little high. If I were in the market I wouldn't want to pay more than 2000-2200 for it in light of the high miles and issues. Even with that said I always price things a little high when I start too cause everybody wants to negotiate you down

OKcarcollector has a good point about green cars and resale. I like green, but not everyone else does

Yeah, I'm the one that is misinformed. This just happens to be the "General Discussion" forum. Had I asked for help with my Chevy in the "Mopar General Discussion" or any other Mopar only related section I could understand the shitty response, but that wasn't the case.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. I tend to be honest to a fault most of the time. Didn't consider how that would look in the ad.

general discussion, not general motors discussion :D

He's not the first member to ask for "brand x" help. And look at it this way: he's looking for help getting rid of one! ;) I can't offer any pricing help DroVal, in my area a running driving clean Z28 like that would be gone in a "heartbeat" at that price. We tend to have two extremes here. Beat to death, or well preserved/immaculate. Yours falls somewhere in between. Aka, normal wear and tear.

Research what it would cost to repair the mechanical issue with the car, and what you could get for it, then.

When I was selling off my vehicles, I found that if I made the repairs to the mechanical issues, I could actually recapture about 1.3 times the money it cost for the repairs. I suppose many people who aren't mechanically inclined don't mind paying extra for a car in good mechanical condition. I had similar experiences with about 6 vehicles that I sold.

Price and its probably not the best mileage return car. I also see a 1200-1500 car. Try dropping it to right under $2K, and see what it does.

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the advice.

Unfortunately I can't afford to do any of the repairs. so will have to see if I can get it sold as is.
