I put in a gearvendors OD last winter , so far I have to say it was well worth it

I've "heard" from other posts on websights that the GV unit has a harsh engage. is there any truth to that statement?

I have one and I can say yes it does engage strong....harsh is more like klunk....as in klunk when it down shifts. Upshifts are pretty clean and noise free...about like a well built 727 shifts.

Remember that these things are built to handle thousands of HP so they probably have to engage firmly to handle that kind of power. I believe most of the big name drag week cars run GV's and they are well into the 1500 hp range now.

I have talked to GV at length about it and my set up and the assure me it is not an issue and normal in many cases.

Other than that...slightly annoying issue its awesome. 3:55's and big block that loves expensive fuel and It gets decent mileage on the highway at low-mid rpm's. No problems running 70 all day long.

Someone commented about driveline angle and that can be a major concern. Some cases may require that you cut the perches and slightly rotate them to obtain more neutral angle.
Less than 3 degrees is optimal.

so basically negligible lol. that could just be due many other factors haha!

is there a vendor on here that sells it? or is it only available through gearvendors (im hoping to score it cheaper than ~3k$ !!

I used to use mine as a gear splitter. I ran the A-833OD with GV.Thats double OD. Ratios are; 3.09/2.41/1.67/1.25/1.00/.78/.53.Not all ratios are alway used. I could run most any R&P. I tuned for 3 ratios in the eighth, 4 in the quarter. Could be 4.89s to 4,3s . 4.3 x .53= 2.28fd. Hah.On the street I ran 3.09/1.67/1.00/.78/.54 with 4.3s. After racing wore off, I switched to an old A833/3.09low box and 3.55s. Ratios now are 3.09/2.41/1.92/1.48/1.34/1.00/.78. I shift (street),1-2-3-3OD-4OD. Hey its a 5-speed.For the eighth I shift;1-1OD-2;For the quarter I shift 1-1OD-2-2OD.The GV shifts faster than I can bang the Hurst shifter, and the engine stays on the pipe and is easily worth 1 cam size. 3.55s now same as 2.76s. Gotta love it. If you are not track tuning yours as a splitter,IMHP youre missing out. PS my GV barks the 295s on the street on at least 2 upshifts, sometimes 3. And if shes laying stripes you wont find a shift-gap. Oh I should tell you, I uninstalled the shift computer. I put a small micro-switch on top of my shifter and a lite on the tach.Do not back up in OD.(Dont ask me how I know.) Hah. Im sooo happy.

AJ/F In my truck i used it to cure the horrible 3/4 split, that was more than 22 yrs ago. Back then there were no 4 spds to really do what we wanted and DN was the only 5spd and they weren't comfortable with what i was doing.
So it went to USgear and Gear Vendor, USg turned into a huge redesign of the driveline and GV had no concerns of 6800 lbs, hp/tq, towing, knock yourself out he told me, so i bought it installed and not a single problem.
Then i added more to the cars so having 4.8 and 5. series gears wasn't a issue on the street anymore.

Was very helpful with the hills upstate and heavy trailer and splitting gears.

And you know what else? Shifting at 7000, the rpm drop is about 1500, so the engine runs from 5500 to 7000.Listening to the engine/exhaust noise during a pass is like listening to a snowmobile at full-song. With a 727/904 the rpm would drop about double, or 3000+ rpm. Theres not a lot of hp down there on a sbm.
