So i recently found that i have a pretty good sized crack in my headers right by the flange. I was not the one that did the engine swap or put the headers on and this is my first A body big block iv worked on. So what type of headers would i need for a 72 duster with a 73 modle 440 and 727? I have manual steering and really no need for power steering so thats not a clearance problem i just dont know what would fit in there. The ones i have now are mandrel bent butbthus far iv found them nowhere while searching on the internet. Suggestions?...:sign3:

Headers that fit and have decent flow are not exactly priced reasonably for most of us.
I have bought both tti under chassis and hooker fenderwell headers
and both brands fit good. There are some other options depending on
the HP you are making with your 440.
If what you have fits you may be able to have them repaired for a resonable
cost compared to the price of new?

Hmmm.. ya know i thought about that but iv never dealt with repairing headers and wasnt even sure where to look for a place that could do it. I have no finder wells because the last owner cut them out. But its only a small crack. I also was a little worried because my headers have zero coating on them and they heat up the front tires pretty well if its ran for a wile so i would also want to get something ceramic coated if i got new ones.

Find a shop with a tig welder to do the repair. Around here
you can go to the local airport where they have a shop to rebuild
small planes. Then you can have them coated if you like.

I welded mine up many times with a mig welder, lot cheaper than buying new ones that don't fit,if you have a pair that fits your car good weld them

I've been running the Pro Parts headers and they fit and work well.

check out Autozone and look for the Dougs ceramic coated headers. I got a set for my 340 Duster. Im sure they have them for a big block, I also purchased a set of Schumachers a few years back(1000) for my BB 68 Dart they fit and look good.

Schumacher headers fit nice but are pricey. Mine cost around $850 new with ceramic coating. Changing the headers out would be no walk in the park, especially the drivers side.
Is the crack by the cylinder head flange or collector flange? The cheapest route would be to repair the crack by taking the car to an exhaust shop and have them weld it up.
