Last rear wheel drives?

In the quest for parts sources, etc, what was the last of the Mopar RWD,

I know about Volare / Aspen / Magnum, "what that other thing?"

EXCEPTING "stuff I already know" IE pickups, full size vans, and the new line of Charger, Challenger, and Magnum.
 
Dodge Diplomat, Chrysler 5th Ave and Plymouth Grand Fury/Caravelle from 1977 to 1989.

I think the Caravelle was fwd, but the rest in his list look good...
 
Chrysler Cordoba....I will have one someday.... Available ?'76-?'82...Don't rule them out looking for parts...Some came with 400's.... Not sure what rears were avaliable though...

The Cordoba was always a rwd. In 1980 they down sized it and made the Dodge Mirada. I think the 400 was available in the 75-77 models only.
 
I was simply not sure what rear axles were available in them.. Not debating they were rear wheel drive...
 
Just like the Duster/ Demon / Scamp / etc "name calling" I never did bother to memorize all the variations "they" came up with LOL
 
'80 was the last year of the Volares/Aspens. They also had St. Regis and Newports that went up around there. I'm thinking '87 was the last of the diplomats, Grand Fury's, and the last of the RWD cars.

It was '89 for the Diplomat, 5th Ave and Grand Fury. The St. Regis and Newports went to '81.

The Diplomat's and 5th Avenue's are a great source for parts. They have the F/J/M spindles that can be used to convert over to the 73+ BBP disk brakes. In fact, everything from the spindles out is a direct swap for front disks (calipers, caliper brackets, rotor, bearings, brake lines etc). They also have the 10x2.5" BBP rear drums, although you'd still need BBP axles for that swap. Because they were around until '89, they still pop up in the scrap yards from time to time. I have the F/J/M spindles on a couple of my cars courtesy of Diplomats/5th Ave's showing up in the local yards.
 
Viper and Prowler but I don't think you will be parting out any of those for an A body. Lee Iacocca thought everything should be FWD with and inline 4.

5th Aves are a GREAT parts source, everything from instrument bulbs and connectors to steering column mounting h/w to fender tag screws is the same as 60's and 70's parts. Most bolts and other fasteners are the same as well.

I've got one in may back yard and can't bring myself to take the carcass to the scrapper because it keeps yielding useable parts.

Look, what I'm looking for is stuff we might actually use. AKA "conventional" RWD. Talon? Laser? Jeep 4x4? Probly not. A Laser? is rwd? Certainly not any AWD passenger car

Thanks I believe they've been mentioned. This is turning into a pretty good "list." The problem now is to get the CL crack smokers to use terminology.

I recently chastised a guy with "a 318" for sale. Hell it could have been a poly, a heavy truck edition, or a magnum, who knows. He still right this second is sitting there "not getting it"

I had another guy contact me about a transmission. Took more than several emails to figure out (after a photo) it was a 518--he claimed it was a 500 series (904). Took about 3 or 4 more to get a price crow-barred out of 'im. Turns out it's cheap enough, I might buy it anyhow. "So why didn'ja SAY so?"
 
Alright, let's get this over with...

I've highlighted the later running versions, as those are still somewhat available in the wrecking yards. The Plymouth Caravelle shows up on the list, but the one you actually need was a Canadian model, so I think that's where some of the confusion comes from. Some of these parts were optional, so every car listed here might not have what you're looking for. These lists are from RockAuto, and I assume they come from an interchange, so I don't guarantee they're 100% accurate. But I've had pretty good luck with them.

These are all vehicles that come with the '73+ BBP 10.98" disk brakes. Which means, at the least, that from the spindles out they can be used for a disk swap

Caravelle.........now that's one I would not have dreamed up LOL but that is FRONT wheel drive at some point...........

The coupe was dropped after 1986 while sedan production came to an end in 1988. Like the U.S. version, the Canadian Caravelle was replaced by the Plymouth Acclaim for 1989. The Caravelle Salon, which was the original rear wheel drive version, survived until 1989.
 
Well seeing as AWD cars still use a solid rear axle ans well as jeeps do too. I dont see how my info wouldnt work. Jeeps used dana rear ends and 8 1/4 rear ends as well as all the AWD cars i listed sept maybe the dodge stealth cause it was a Mitsubishi car also.
