Not sure when RockAuto's policy changed but they now charge the customer return shipping on defective parts. Just FYI for anyone thinking about ordering from them. I'm going with Amazon in the future, and I've been ordering from Rock for years. Oh they also delete any negative comments on their Facebook page....no wonder it looks like everyone loves them, they sensor out the bad reviews.

It's an arguable charge, they sent me the wrong part one time, the lug nuts instead of the studs. I called and they said to pay to ship them and if in fact they made a mistake they would reimburse me. I said that's BS and then wrote and email. They quickly responded with keep the lug nuts the studs are in the mail.

I have not bought anything from them for maybe a year. but when I got a wrong part ( their fault), the CS girl would say just keep it and we will send another. I got couple of VR that each worked with different reading, wrong, they gac\ve me credit no problem...

what pisses me off is when I want to buy a small list of parts, and they come from 3 different warehouses. I figure up shipping and I can buy from NAPA for same or less them!!! now days I figure every penny. I just have to. money tree died decade ago.

Tried talking to them about it. They said they don't cover return shipping because the local autoparts store doesn't cover your gas to drive to them. What kind of asinine statement is that??? The've covered return shipping of warranty returns before so I don't know when or why this has changed.

You know whose fault it is? Everybody who buys from RockAuto. They are one of the biggest importers of total chinkesium, junk parts but we keep right on buying from them.

....and they're gettin rich because everybody wants somethin for nuthin.

Just had the same issue with them last week. I ordered some tie rod ends for my daily driver. One was correct, the other not so much. I sent the return back via their return page. They asked what the problem was, and I stated wrong part, and described it. They then proceeded to send me the exact same part, then try to charge me to return it. You get a "how'd we do email" shortly after, which I left a "great" review...

Soon after you will get an email from someone asking you what they can do to remedy the problem... I asked for my money back plus my shipping charges which they did. They then email you again and ask you to remove your poor review... I said no and that's that!

I now get most of my stuff from Summit (if I can't get it locally). It's also nice since they have a warehouse in around Las Vegas area. I order from them on a Thursday night (payday!) I get them Friday afternoon. All weekend to play!
I've used Rockauto maybe once or twice a year, what turned me off was when I took off my old brake drums that had "Made in U.S.A." Then I put on these new drums from Rockauto that had "Made in China" stamped on them.
I dunno, if anyone else feels the same as I do, but it just made me feel a little weird in the stomach. Same goes for a distributor cap it was a Mopar replacement part from the 90's it had "Made in Canada". On goes the new one with you guessed it "Made in China."
Not sure if our Canadian brethren feel the same way.

They don't actually have any stock/parts/inventory/... They are a middle man that only moves merchandise on behalf of the warehouses and manufacturers that they have deals with. I use them but I always double check the part numbers on google and also with napa autozone etc... Sometimes it's not worth going with them other times it's very hard not to go with them. Example I got a trans filter, air filter, PVC valve and 3 premium beam type wiper blades for $22 plus $6 shipping, the wiper blades alone from autozone would have been $30. Best price on Radiator for wifes CRV was about $150 with tax local. Rock auto $59 shipped!!

I use Summit as much as I can. I had a part go bad and they replaced it with no questions.

Summit Racing charged me an 18% restocking fee to return new unopened parts.

No matter how hard I try, Rock Auto always ships so my stuff gets here on Monday. Twice the stuff showed up Friday evening and sat 10 miles from me for 3 days until I get it and have to wait 4 more until I can fix my car.

Rock Auto's return policy kinda sucks.

Summit WILL match and BEAT their price though. Just have to talk to someone on the phone at Summit.

Also, I have a 5% off code that's good for until March 20th 2016 on Rock Auto, and Summit will match the discount!

Here it is:
Your RockAuto discount code 4035029536661679 will expire on March 20, 20166

Enter the code in the "How did you hear about us" line of the shopping cart.

Rock Auto encourages to share it, so I'm sharing it.

The par I had to return (for the 3rd time) was a remained PS pump for the Dart. Rock was the only game in town on the pump. I even ordered one from autozone first because they were cheaper but after the 1st one leaked right out of the box they said they couldn't get anymore and I lost my core. Guess I should have tried to rebuild my pump before buying a new remained one.

Are you sure about that? I've called before and they said they wouldn't match discounted prices. Sucked but I ended up ordering from CarID who has actually turned out to be pretty good to deal with.

They should have paid you a core charge...

x2. And then they wonder why the local professional parts stores are closing shop...

What "professional" parts stores? I live in a pretty car orientated town (was known as chrome city because of all of the car dealerships, hence the name of my oil company, Chrome City Oil) and we really only have chains (pep boys, autozone, etc). I have to answer whether or not my car has AC when I need a brake pads when dealing with them....
