I bet that was awesome. Somethin I would never forget!

I remember he wasn't exactly sober... but he still put on a great show. Same thing with Gary Stewart when I MC'ed that show. They were almost propping him up until he got started.

Merle will be missed. He was a huge part of the "Bakersfield" sound.

He was one of my grandfather's favorites. Even though I was never much into country music, I know he was a legend, and the world is now a little darker without him in it. Rest in peace.

Waited and waited and waited one night at the Stampede for him to perform...if I remember right he was about an hour late and I can't remember which tuneup group played until he did show up and put on a pretty good show.

I needed a thread to post in on this loss :glasses7: Merle Haggard was a staple in many folks life listening to his music growing up, he will be missed but never forgotten :pale:

R.I.P old friend, and thank you for all the great music my friends and family has enjoyed.

yes he will be missed.

seems to me, there is country music and then, there in new country. I like the original. guess i'm just getting old. NO, I am old.

I have been a fan since the 80's ( high school ) . I saw him in concert last year at a winery. RIP man. :(

Craziest show I ever seen was Merle and Bob Dylan! Of course Merle took the show but Dylan did try!! Rest in peace Hag!!!

He was going to be here in Springfield Mo. with Willie Nelson on Friday. Merle canceled about a week ago by doctors orders. Willie, as always I'm sure will put on a great show, but imagine what it would have been with the two of them.

RIP Merle.
You will be mist by many. Been linstening to him since the early 60's. I aint far behind in age.
Gess father time comes to us all.

DAMN IT! :prayer:

My dad texts: "Amen. I met him in '76; his bodyguard told me and my swing band that Okie was written as a joke, they we're all high on weed riding the tour bus passed Muskogee."
