Engine color 1969 Swinger 340

-
67-69 Turquoise. At some point, probably mid year they went to Blue. I've seen an original survivor 69 Swinger 340 car that had an orange engine. Never say never about Ma Mopar.

I can see the Turquoise looking more Blue with age.
Anyone know the process for engine paint colors being choosen by the maunufactures?
There has to be a reason for a given particulate color choosen.
What is it?

All color choices were made by the exec's wives. ;)

Besides the great turquoise vs blue debate also keep in mind that not all the assembly plants were in synch when it came to switching engine colors from one model year to another. Depending where/when your car was built may be a factor why your engine is a different color from what the books and the "experts" say it should be. This was based off of a conversation I had many years ago with a Hamtramck line painter.

I know for a fact that the engine block itself is original/this is my color/timing cover and water pump/ unleaded 2.02. (J) heads replaced the(X) heads during it's time

Get this straight I love Mopars and right now have 2 of them! Mopar guys are notorious for thinking they know it all. Just this week an old Mopar body guy {been working on them 60 of his 70 yrs} told me that the hubcaps on my '70 swinger weren't on '70 swingers but on '71 coronets. He was correct about about them being on '71 coronets as my dad had a brand new one and I remember them. But I also remember the same hubcaps on '70 swingers, so he was wrong there. However, he always thinks he knows everything MOPAR!! BE CAREFUL what comes out of our mouths!!

Our memories some times play tricks on us.I know the original owner of a
'68 Road Runner (who still owns it) that swears his grill was originally matte
black..of coarse we dug out some old pictures and it was dark argent.
Any body can really say anything and you can only argue otherwise...
