Can anyone tell me why some consoles are straight in the front and some are beveled? Is it an AC VS. non AC car, is it different years?

Does the white one look like it was cut off at the front? They used to shave or cut the fronts off for aftermarket under dash a/c units.

Ive seen the shaved ones that the guys claimed are ftom factory ac cars but they were 73 and up cars if I remember correctly.

The dealer installed a/c kits were contracted to aftermarket. That aftermarket vendor ( Murray ? ) built a under dash unit that at first glance looked very much like the factory unit ( this after the OEM changed to black plastic vents instead of chromed pot metal ).
Shaving the nose of the console was related to this whether done by a service tech installing most any aftermarket unit and/or a production change for last few year models.
I saw the same flat nose white console in a Hang 10 Duster, slant 6 with factory a/c.

I have also seen several 4 speed bases with the large side cut out factory installed in 74-76 a bodies with automatics. they had a cardboard piece and carpet covering the cut out. I suspect the factory as using up leftovers?

I had a 68 or 9 Cuda console that they had hacked off about 8" of the front of the console

The white console is out of a Hang 10, that had AC. It doesn't appear to be cut or shaved. Im not sure what the black one is out of. Would it be wrong to put the white one(its in better shape) into a 71 Demon that has factory AC.

Why not?, It's closer to correct than a lot of other stuff we see being swapped in.

Dealer installed A/C on my 67 Barracuda. You can see where they cut the console to match the Chrysler "Knee Knocker" unit
