just fired off a used runner slant 6 in my D150 and think my cheap aftermarket gauge gone bad,..oil pressure come up quick to 50 lbs and dont move from idle all threw rpm range,..no wiggle just steady as can be,...seems it should fluctuate some to me,...never ran a slant myself so looking for experienced minds here,...the motor i pulled gauge went up and down with rpms...knocking but good oil pressure.....thank for any wisdom shared...

If your engine makes that at idle that's pretty sweet. The pump may have a 50psi regulator spring in it, and it very quickly gets to bypassing.
I would get verification from another mechanical gauge, and if favorable, fugedabowdit.

MacGyver something up to put some air psi to it maybe and see if it fluctuates?
You could also use a handheld drill to "prime" engine and see if that works?

Brainstall eh? Happens to me too, now and then. More so as gather the years
LOL, I was thinking the bypass valve was stuck, but that would create unlimited pressure. But then again, maybe the pressure gauge only goes to 50. Wing it up and see of you blow out the oil filter gasket.

Changed the oil on my driveway three times before I figured that one out.

My Magnum is like that, and even fired up dead cold it has 50 on the nose and never goes any higher no matter the RPM's
The 318 that came out had 80 cold idle and 45 at 195 degrees idling.
I run Castrol GTX 10/40 year round.

I don't have an oil pressure gauge other than the slow-as-mollases, depends-on-the-dash-gauge-regulator,factory, rally-dash, points-to-wherever-it-feels-like, gauge. lol.
Same with the temperature gauge. And some days the speed-O jumps around so bad I don't have a clue how slow Ima going. The tach?, now, that's a whole nuther matter. It's an 8000rpm,270* sweep, 4 inch, Autometer. She never lies to me....at least not that I'm aware of. This one time, on a missed shift, I looked over to it and saw the needle crossing over the 8000rpm line.....on it's way, back down. The clutch pedal was already back on the floor. So, maybe, much like my wife, sometimes no doesn't really mean no.

well drove it around field here till it warmed up and pressure started going up and down with rpms,..bout 20lbs idel,..up to 45 almost 50lbs high as it gose so i guess thats the bypass spring pressure point,..thanks for the replys,..i think im good on this now!!
