Shipping a non running car

Has anyone ever had a non running car shipped cross country?

what companies did you use, what companies do you know of that will do it ??

might need to move a car from PA to CO

Take a look in the transport section or post an ad on Uship.com and let people bid for your delivery
 
I used to work for a classic car restorer and broker, and we occasionally got a car in that was not running, delivered by a transport company. I am sure it can be done, and I am sure it would be easier if it is at least a roller. That was a few years ago, so I'm afraid I am no help with companies that will do it.

it is a roller ...rear and all wheels there and roll ...just no driveline and it all needs restoration

Call Montway, they haul in-ops, Montway hauled two Mopars for me last year. Also I used Turbo Transport to haul a car from eastern Ohio to my house, an hour and a half west of Chicago, did a great job but not sure if he will go to CO. Wayne Domanek

The only advice I have is to be very careful. Brokers are lying, backstabbing, criminal thieves. TRY not to go through one, but contact a shipper directly, or find someone through a friend.

I agree 100% it has happened to me, Almost all of these companies broker trucks though so its hard to avoid, when I use Montway I tell them I want a company owned truck not a broker and I am very specific and blunt about it. They haven't let me down yet, I might pay more but I hate third party deals because it takes some accountability away.
 
In 2001 I moved from Maryland to Illinois. I had a 71 blazer that I had been restoring, it was non-running and the body was strapped to the frame, no steering and so forth. I had United move my house items, and they also took care of moving the Blazer. They arranged for a roll back to pick it up and take it to a near by parking lot, where they put it into a semi trailer. The reverse happened in Illinois. Cost me $1800 door to door. The United dealer was Planes. Not even sure they are still in business. Hope this helps.
 
I recently inquiered and found that most companies wanted between $300-$500 more for in-op vehicle
 
I couldn't justify spending 2500 or more dollars shipping a car unless it was a 1 of none 426 hemi 4 speed 71 Dodge Daytona or I had money falling out of my ***.i don't know how y'all do it
 
its not a HEMI car but it is rare ....rare enough to justify it. otherwise I am with you and I would just as soon forget about it and leave it where it is for that kind of money.
 
3 years ago I had my 2 Canadian Special Darts, both inops, trucked from CA to Ct by 4 Corners Transport. A broker so both times there was a different trucker but professional and easy to work with for delivery. so is it a Dart??
 
mine was a shell on a dolly and lots of pieces,I went with Uship from Chicago to eastern long island NY was $1400. it shared a ride in a pull along trailer

I also have used Montway. I've probably had them ship about 4 cars for me. I believe 1 or 2 of them were inoperable. I think they charged 150-200 more.
 
I had a shell shipped on casters and they stuck the strap hook inside the tail light opening and cranked it down and put a strap over the front end and crunched the DS fender. I have been getting the run around for months and I assume they are going to stiff me on it.

well thats not very professional

might be helpful for us to know who "they" is so we can avoid dealing with them
 
Checkered Flag Auto Transport and I think they broker some of their stuff out. It was enclosed transport so there was no need to strap the front end down
 
Catch a flight to Harrisburg or Baltimore in July so you can visit Carlisle & take in the show.

Then we can tow it back to CO, just pay for gas & share the driving.
 
Shipping a non running vehicle isn't really any different from shipping a running vehicle except you will pay more. In addition to asking if it is rolling drivers will also need to know if it steers and rolls. Your price should be around $1000 unless you are shipping into the Rockies. And don't stress yourself looking for a carrier on this route, it will be very difficult to find. Brokers are not all bad just make sure you do a little research before choosing one. People have bad experiences sometimes because of unrealistic expectations but a good broker will have mostly positive reviews.
