Can anyone post pictures of a P195/75R14 and a P205/70R14 tires? Interested in this front/rear tire combination for my 14" X 5 1/2" Rallye wheels. Thoughts?

Dan:
My Dart has 205/70R14 on the front Cragar, and 225/70R14 on the rear. On the Rallyes, I have 215/70R14 front, and 225/70R14 rear. Not exactly side-by-side, I tried 195s on the Cragar, too small.

195/75-14s are about 25.5" tall, the 205/70-14s are about 25.3" tall. Both will fit on 5.5s although not ideal. Both will want reduced tire pressures to run flat to the road.
IMO, ideally,195s will like a 6.0rim, and 205s will like a 6.5s. This will only be an issue if you like to corner.
The original tires for those 5.5s was an E70-14, which has no modern equivalent in the metric system,on account of those tire carcasses were shaped differently. The 195 has a section width of near 195/25.4=7.68, when mounted on a rim of 70% of the section, or 5.37, which is rounded up to 5.5. It might have a tread width of 6.35.
I find the 70% rule insufficient for road-use other than in low-performance applications. The manufacture only uses it to determine an apples to apples checking size, for us to do the math on to see what fits what. The 100* rule would say that a 195 would need a 195/25.4x 100% =7.68 rim, rounded down to 7.5. But this would be too hard to install. I use an 80% rule, so a 195 would like 195/25.4 x 80%=6.14, rounded to 6.0. On this rim size you can run the pressure up for cornering and hiway use without fear of running the centers off. Whereas on a 5.5 you may have to reduce the pressure, cuz the rim is pulling the shoulders up off the road surface. You may have to run down at 28 psi as a DD,instead of 30,and 32 on the hiway.
I don't like cornering on 26/28 psi tires. The treads roll under and if you are not careful the sidewalls rub, and the car feels like a barge!
Well,as to those old E70-14 tires, they were rated according to tread widths. And an E was 7.35 IIRC. Back in the day, I ran those at 30F/28R;they were a totally different carcass design.
So those are my thoughts,lol

dude, you sure get technical !! LOL . I v`e got 205 75 15 `s on 5.5" prostars, running 32 on air pressure (not much time on it so far) no noticeable problems. course its closer to a straight line car than a corner carver.

AJ/FormS that is a ton of information. I've found information that says an E70-14 can/should be replaced with 215/60R14 or 205/70R14 or 19580/R14. I'm keeping the 14" X 5 1/2" Rallyes. Will any of these work with the 5 1/2" rims? I'd also like to have the rear tires wider than the front ("rake" or "stagger" whatever you call it), any preferences? Thanks for your input/advice!

Those are in the data base as being similar in height, so as not to cause calibration issues with speedos.

Check out post #4, famous bob is running 205/75s on 5.5s at 32psi. I can only assume successfully. I don't care much for the ride at 32 tho.
When I'm just tooling around,I like to run at 28/24. That takes the edge off HD shocks. But I run 7s and 10s for rims.
