I bought this pair of new factory upper control arms from a local Dodge dealer some 25 years ago. When they came in, I noticed that they had a extra piece of steel welded to the area where the rebound bumper would make contact.
Has anyone else ever seen another upper control arm with this modification?

Yes, I have 3 NOS one's. I heard that they were modified for big block cars and some where years ago someone had a '67 BB bcuda parts car that had the weldment on both sides.
I've never found any facts to back this up.
At the time and still today I own 5 '69 Bcuda BB cars and one parted. 3 are 383, 4spd notches, 1 440, auto notch and 2 440, auto fastbacks.
Out of all 6 cars, I have ONLY 1 A-arm that has the weldment??????

If your looking to sell the 2 you have, I will buy them!

Never seen one like that. Must be a high stress area and the mod keeps it from twisting.

That's the cleanest factory weld I've ever seen, in my entire life.

Was there a recall on these? If so, you may have a "recall" part, as in, it's part of addressing the recall.

Did you run the number stamped on it to make sure it's A, and not FJM or something?

UCA for 73 and up BBody and FMJ bodies have the bump stops near the center, right behind the ball joint.

This one looks like an ABody UCA but check to make sure its not a 72 and down BBody UCA

I bought a pair for my first 66 back in...'98 I believe. One had the welded piece on it looked just like that.

I've had several of those over the years and they were all made just like that. That PN doesn't appear until '68, but it seems, judging from the first two digits, like it could have been put into the system much earlier, and then retro fitted with that extra piece to work on that earlier application. I only have books back to '63, so if that's the case, I would say the original application would be earlier than that.

The part numbers on the NOS arms that I have are 2071456-7. I just went through my parts books and those part numbers for a A-body upper A-Arm first appeared in the 1968 parts book.
Prior to 1968, the A-body A-Arms had part numbers of 2071452-3
