Hey guys I have a quick question. Found a 4 speed trans iut of a 70 dart 318 at a local yard. Transmission only no bell housing. My question is stupid but I want to know if it makes a difference that my motor is 360 in my 70 duster. With the correct bell housing this should be no problem? thanks guys for any input

Go for it!

You will just need a 360 flywheel, and about $3000USd to finish the conversion, plus a bigger than 7.25 rear-end, bigger tires, and disc front brakes is a really good idea. So what's that come to? With a little luck budget around 5/6 Gs

Correct bell & associated parts & you can make it work.

If your car has an automatic now, you may have a pilot bushing to deal with if the crankshaft in your engine was not drilled for one.

As to the pilot bushings, there are a couple of work-arounds so that won't be a big issue. But it is something to keep in mind.
I've been a stick-man since 1970, and I'm always excited to get behind the wheel. There were a a couple of years here and there, when I was stickless, but I always had a motorcycle during those times.
Make sure that trans has not been converted to overdrive. Put it in third gear, and make sure the output shaft turns slower than the input.

Couldn't this be used on a neutral balanced flywheel from a 340 for his 360? We were told it would work but haven't got that far yet. It's quicktime rm-531.

Sorry fellas it fell through. I ran over there yesterday on my break to look at it and when I got there it was suddenly 500 for the trans and it appeared to be missing alot of parts. Apparently a 3 speed is 200 but the 4 speed was 500 so I passed

I would post on here WANTED A body 833 4 speed trans and associated parts for conversion. Yes it all adds up but it cam all be found/had for reasonable amount of $$. Yes Brewer's is the go to place for any and all parts. Me being a tightwad, I get small parts there and find the other stuff here and there for used prices. Like AJ/FormS states, There is no better fun than banging gers!

I found a 4-speed, scattershield, clutch fork, hurst shifter and 340 flywheel on here two years ago for $450, look around, have the cash and be ready to pounce brother.

Best way to do this swap is buy it all from 1 person somewhat locally, ( trans are heavy and shipping is high!) LOL.. and know what it came out of. Wayne Brewers site has great info as to length and pics of various parts required. You can do the search here FABO and see what people have been pricing parts and entire packages. Good 4 speeds go for $400 up, sb bells, $100-200 , pedal assembly $150 up, small parts add up ... you can buy new flywheels and resurface used one, LIKE said, cash can be king. be ready good deals get bought ..

Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye out. Unfortunately just got hit with a 5k new sewer main bill I have to swallow. Its either shift gears and have **** floating or stick with the 904 and no floaters
