Ive been reading alot about the wilwood brakes and have been seeing issues with the stock 14s not fitting what wheels should i go with and what measurement am i needing to look for when buying new wheels 1970 dodge dart swinger

Wilwood provides a template (PDF) on their website. You can print that to scale and use it as a cut-out to see if rims will fit (diameter and center hole). I did this recently and bought rims (15" cop-car wheels) and I think they'll fit. (I Haven't actually done the Wilwood conversion yet.)

Have you looked at the SSBC kit? I used it on my '71 Dart GT and was able to keep the factory 14" X 5 1/2" small bolt pattern Rallye wheels. I don't know if the 14" X 5 1/2" STEEL wheels will fit.

What are the part #'s for your Wilwood kits? Are you running them with the 5x4" or 5x4.5" bolt pattern?

One of the biggest things to pay attention to on the newer Wilwood kits is the hub bore requirement. The new kits say they need a wheel center bore of 3.050", which is larger than quite a few of the aftermarket wheels available.

140-2713-bd is the front and i really dont kno what rearend i have to be lookin up the rears kinda new to this

I have the SSBC kit on my Barracuda & it works well. The only negative is that the booster & master cylinder don’t look stock. Stock 14 sbp rally’s fit as mentioned above. I went to sbp cragars, 15x6 on the front. I think the kit moves the wheels outward some.

I asked because those are drag race only brakes. Cars weighing less than 2,800 pounds, not intended for street use.
Okay thanks for that info like i said im just now starting and starting research so any information at this point is greatly appreciated

I dont mind changing rims im not lookin to keep the old school look just needing to kno measurements like diameter offset hub size and looking for part numbers for front and rear wilwood disc brakes that work with heavy street car pushing 700hp

Yeah that’s a 7.25” rear axle. They can barely withstand a stock 318, so that’s gonna need to go.

No offense, but if that’s going to be a 700 hp car you’ve got at least $10k in upgrades and chassis work before you need to worry about which brake kits you’re going to run.

Absolutely it has a 318 in it im just trying to get it to run but im goin to prolly make alot of people mad but im puttin a 454 with a turbo 400 and a 9 inch i have the qa1 tubuler sub frame and all that im just looking for brakes cause i pretty much have everything else and i want to tear it all the way down and go back together with everything cause i hate waiting on parts while the car is down

I want to go with a 9 in but what other good rearends can i go with like for more of a direct fit

Hey I don’t care, it’s your car so build it the way you want and drive the crap out of it. Better that than the scrapper.

All I’m saying is you’ve got a long way to go and a bunch of money to spend before you get all wrapped up in which disk kit you’re going to run, and some of those decisions may change your brake choice.

Direct fit that will handle 700 hp? Yeah if you don’t run a built 9” then you’re looking at a Dana. Nothing you’re going to find at a yard will handle that and be a direct fit.

Okay thanks man i have the drive train and starting to order suspension and roll cages and support bars its gotta ways to go just didnt kno if any one had recommendations

You better be good at fabrication. You're going to put an engine, and transmission in a car that was never designed for that setup. So, you get to build your own motor mounts, and trans mount. Then you get to build your own headers, cause nothing will drop in. The rear will be a piece of cake by comparison. Better off selling the off brand stuff, and put in a drivetrain designed for it. But, it's your car.

Next thing you'll find the torsion bars in the way of something and you want coilovers. Next is the steeringbox and you want a limited rack&pinion instead.
Then you can't get the leafsprings to work and you want coilovers too...

I'm no Mopar purist myself, but IMhO, since you don't seem to want to bother with anything Mopar-related in your drivetrain or setup, I think in your case you would way be better off to find a small chevy like a Nova orsomething right from the start and start with that.

Yea i found front end with coil overs that bolts in not a weld in and it has a rack tubuler frame **** load of adjustment with disc brakes and is made to mount ls motors on it witch is what i was looking for but im just looking to get this 318 running so i can drive it around a little but im putting a floor pan in it this weekend ought to be fun and was just looking for different brake set up people have used for while i drive b4 tearing it completely down because im gunna be ordering stuff for a while and finding people that can fab my rearend in for a decent price so manly needing just front brakes so i feels better wich fhe drums work great when i pulled it off the trailer but i wont kno how great they are at higher speeds till my new distributor and stuff get it to see if i can make it get fire
