I cut out the old speaker grill on my Dart and fabricated a well that holds my GPS and a roof antenna from a 2007 (I think) Chrysler 300C. The well is covered with a thin piece of grey lexan. The GPS work fine and gets a good signal. But the stereo does not receive any signal for stations. Also my bluetooth for the phone receives calls but I cannot send, i.e voice out. The mic for the phone might be bad, but I'm at a loss as to the antenna signal problem. I was told this antenna would work with the Alpine receiver. Any thoughts, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Being down in a hole surrounded by metal would be my first guess.
Radio signals and GPS satellite signals are two way different things.

You might be right. My assumption was if it had a path to see the sun it would be OK. I based that on the fact the GPS works fine down in the hole. I guess a quick check is to pull it out and try it outside the car. It actually won't be that quick, it's a ***** to get to. I might buy a second antenna and try it outside the car and see.

Subscribed! Is your antenna compatible with Sirius/XM. I know the little shark fin antenna on my 2013 Challenger handled AM/FM and Sirius. I would like a small discrete antenna such as the shark fin for my 65 Dart wagon which will have AM/FM/Sirius-XM

The stereo shop told me the antennal would work for AM/FM, I hadn't planned on Sirius/XM. It just might be that I can't achieve what I wanted

hmmm... this gets me thinking.
I wonder if you could use one of the flexible antennas and route it up under the A-pillar and adhesive it to the roof skin under the headliner ?

Here's what I am using for my Retrosound stereo system. AM/FM/Sirius/Bluetooth/mp-3

I have the antenna mounted under the center console instead of a fender mount. Very inexpensive and Works great!!

I think people have become so used to "cell coverage" that they forget......antennas, regardless of frequency, work better when they are "in the clear" above objects for reception

Not knowing your specific area of reception for various services, I cannot compare. But I remember the awful days of the "windshield" antennas popularized by GM. These did not work well in this area which is an extreme FM and AM fringe area, and the higher performance your ignition system "gets" the worse reception gets

That is yet another issue.......radiated electrical interferance. Your under dash antenna might get you by, until the car is running. EMF radiated by the system may be deteriorating the antenna ability

If I'm not mistaken, the OEM roof antennas need to be powered, they are electronic. If you have already powered it, then I'm no help. But if you just plugged the Motorola plug into the radio, I don't think that will work. There should be a power and ground wire somewhere.

Not all those types are powered, depends on "what it is" Some are dedicated to equipment and powered through the coax
