I picked the 8-3/4 this afternoon from my abandoned 4sp 66 hardtop Valiant. I never really noticed that the driveshaft was painted with Stars and Stripes.

Anyone know what shop or company used to do this kind of thing. It’s kinda cool and reminds me of the Dixco centennial themed tachometers. Will see if I can clean it good and maybe shoot some clear and keep it as a nostalgia piece on my Dart. Thoughts?

My driveshaft guy painted mine with a black barber pole stripe while I watched him balance it. I told him just paint the whole thing.

I bought a 8 3/4 from a 69 Dart Swinger 340 many moons ago-It had the Zig-Zag man painted on the back round part, wish I'd taken a picture.

Lot's of cool painting's happened in the 70's, a friend of mine had Nazareth hair of the dog album art airbrushed on the decklid of his 69 SS chevelle.

That couldda come out from under somebody's drag car. You never know. Sox and Martin and Landy used that color scheme a lot. It looks like it was a professional job. Pretty cool.

Interesting thought 3R. I guess you can have anything customized. It definitely took extra time to prep and paint. No way to know the history at this point but I dig it. Looks like an easy design to duplicate.

Yeah but imagine how long that's been done though. Thirty or more years, I bet. Beck then, people just didn't do that kinda thing everyday. Had to be pretty good paint and a pretty good application to even have a trace of it left.
