LDR working man drag radial class

-
kind of off topic, but just like "budget builds" from the magazines. "How to build a strict budget 360 for 5k"....

I guess budget is individually based. Even 30 years ago, they advertised budget builds of 3k. This is at a time when my induction system was a 20 dollar TQ/cast intake from the junk yard from a maxi van. Heads would be home ported by me. Used cam and lifters a part of it. Headers were 99 dollar cyclone or hedmans.

I guess budget covers a broad spectrum.

When you’re talking about cars running in the low 4’s the term budget just means a car that wasn’t built my a millionaire.

What about the 235 class? Is that comparable to the x275 as far as budget goes?

The record for mx235 is in the 4.40’s I believe. I think they’re a lil more strict on the power adder rules in ultra. I also think it’s oem block too. I’ll have to look up the rules it’s beem a while, but whatever they’ve done it seems to be the closest class within reach for your average blue collar guy. Still wouldn’t be easy but I believe it’s doable

Ultra Street - Holley EFI Outlaw Street Car Reunion VI
There’s the link for the ultra stree rules, I know it’ll be a long shot but I’m swinging for the fences and trying o build my car towards this class. I’ve loved the heads up radial stuff since I was a kid and always wanted to get into it

Man I hope so, I went last year and the 2 years before that when it was in Memphis. We’re planning to go unless something comes up, just to spectate of course lol

I’ll be there Friday and Saturday.

The owner of the fox body LDR car that I built works for the USPS. The other 2400hp mustang I help with is owned by a service tech at a dealership. Both are hard working middle class guys. You don’t have to be a millionaire to do this but I’m sure it helps.

The money comes from somewhere .. I have both those type people in my life. My x works for usps. Makes good money. But not that good. Got a buddy that is a dang good Ford diesel tech. Makes 100k year. Both these people.I speak of have nice homes and drive new vehicles . neither one have the budget for 4.20 cars ... Got another good buddy owns his own body shop. In a small town. He has a 4.70 BBC Fox body. His 18 yro son has a 4.50 67 camaro. They bring them to the track in a diesel pusher motor home and a 75k stacker trailer. Great family and good racers. And they drive new.vehicles and have a very nice home. Usps worker, tech at dealership yes make good money . but they got a honey hole somewhere.
